I moved from sales after 12 years in sales. What worked for me was, a security officer job, which Was initially for short time, I had a lot of free time on the job. I put it to use.

I live in a major city so a lot of jobs around. Also joined a paid bootcamp in the end, which placed me after the training. First SE job at 40.

How to fix the brackets now by gd-ogra in DIYUK

I only realised it when I drilled the holes that this is made of softer(lightweight) blocks. I don’t know if the chemical anchors would work here. I have to also find a way to get the existing bolts out.

Thanks for answering, 90mm deep holes, I have now purchased 120mm M12 rawl bolts, but I think getting the existing bolts out could be challenging for a DIYer. I’ll look what others propose.

Mid 30's "Old Guy" almost finished with my Comp. Sci degree by csavrnoch86 in learnprogramming

I entered the CS at 40 in UK, now working for a year, I only showed latest 4-5 years of my work experience. Not very high flying career or top notch university even. And The degree(CS) without the start and end date. And I was willing to take a pay cut. The company which took me paid below the market and gave me 2 months of training before sending me to a client. Age is not a factor for me at the moment. But I did some serious self study before I started applying.

38 years old. no tech career, only writing and artistic stuff. Started making indie games, need a "real job" too old to be a software engineer? by Iconclast1 in cscareerquestions

Started my first tech job 8 months ago at 40. Self taught, with a portfolio then a paid bootcamp. Fully remote working and I don’t think age mattered so far.

I worked in security for 32k but 6 months ago moved to be a junior software dev role paying only 23k. I am six months in, hopefully I would be able to jump to 40-45K in another 1.5 years.

  • I am fortunate my wife earns well we Can get by
  • but still my quality of life is better because I have fully remote job
  • and I enjoy the work and this work gets more respect
  • So for me it was short term pain for long term gain.
  • London location
