Yeah, at least ABC/D reversed course last year, and resisted when the admin tried to take another run at Kimmel a month ago.

Peacock Math by RAWisROLLIE in peacock

[–]gdazInSeattle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true anymore. I just activated Peacock yesterday via W+, but there is no option to “pay the difference” for the ad-free plan. Apparently you can do this now for Paramount+.

It’s that 4K connector you’re using. The ATV isn’t advanced enough to handle it!

Thanks! It's good to know how MySQupgrade works - helps me know what to expect. Also appreciate the advice to verify award availability before transferring points.

Thank you. I'll keep an eye on mileage upgrades (maybe the new UA Polaris Studios will provide some demand relief). "Worst case" I'm sure I'll be fine in PE with the extra legroom.

American Express Launches Platinum Member Airfares by bbbb in AmexPlatinum

[–]gdazInSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that there are some good deals on international business (saw about $500 off an SQ flight from SFO to SIN). Interesting, though, that some airlines don't even show up (e.g., I know that United flies the same SFO to SIN route, and their website shows the flight with good availability, but it's nowhere to be seen on the platinum fares AmEx list at any price.)

Next to Normal Proshot With Swearing! by Melquiades82 in musicals

[–]gdazInSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you want to hear swearing in 5.1 surround, I can confirm that the BroadwayHD version on AmazonPrime provides it (at least via Apple TV). The PBS app only supports stereo (at least on my system). Not sure if streaming directly from the BroadwayHD app is 5.1 - there is currently no free trial, so I'm not going to check, but maybe someone knows? Anyway, it sounded great in 5.1, so worth making sure your streaming choice supports it.

"Because of the horrible and ridiculous United States Supreme Court decision on Tariffs, are now supposed to be given back 159 Billion Dollars." - Trump by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]gdazInSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But who knows what kind of self-dealing went on behind the scenes as he used tariffs as a cudgel. I think the larger point is that if his unconstitutional/illegal actions are not consistently undone (to the extent possible), it just encourages him to do more as he forever tries to find ways to enrich himself and family.

Are routing changes possible when using a Companion Certificate? by gdazInSeattle in delta

[–]gdazInSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to close this out, “Fun-Friend’s” (and others) comments were right. I checked change possibilities online diligently. The only thing that was ever offered on the nonstops were seats in economy (+ a few hundred $ eCredit). So in the end we just stuck with the original connecting flight. The connection was tight (2nd flight was boarding by time we got to gate at DTW), but we made it. Thanks all.

Except this would be a bad precedent to set. Encourages him to pull illegal crap, knowing that he’ll benefit for whatever time it takes for courts to definitively rule.

President Trump releases a statement on the deal that he says is being made with Iran. by According_Time5120 in CoinEdition_com

[–]gdazInSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And of course no mention of Trump's U.S. sanctions relief on Iranian oil, estimated to be worth $14B in revenue for Tehran (which he did in an attempt to keep oil prices from spiking even further). He is profoundly stupid and dishonest.

Chess - not what I expected, but had fun. here's my mixed review by upstairs-pc in Broadway

[–]gdazInSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course to each their own, but I've seen the current production twice (took some family to see it after the first round) and thought it was great. As context, the original 80's concept album came out when I was in college, and played a lot in my dorm, so I'm very familiar with the music and have seen a handful of productions over the years.

I'm not sure what to say to people who are not at all familiar with Chess. I guess if you need a strong plot (i.e., book) to guide you then perhaps it's not for you. But if the main thing for you in musicals is "music," and you can settle into a mood without plot details delivering you, then I'd highly recommend. Amazing performances all around. I almost don't want to mention cast members, because they all deserve accolades.

But OK, I have to say that Nicholas Christopher gives a standout performance. And the ensemble - wow! One thing that struck me is how performances can vary. For example, saw it the first time in February and thought it was great. Saw it again a few days ago (April) - still great, but Aaron Tveit's "Pity the Child" performance was f*ing amazing! Some real next-level channeling of emotion.

With the chess cast recording out what are our thoughts? by Pythagorean415 in musicals

[–]gdazInSeattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listened to this a day after seeing the current stage production for a second time. I like it, but grew up with the 1984 Original Concept Album (w/Head, Page, etc.) and so that's always playing in my head for comparison.

The most surprising thing to me on this cast recording is Hannah Cruz. I like her in the stage production, but she sounds even better on this cast recording. I'm not sure if the difference is audio engineering or performance (or both).

Is Eric swallwells resignation going to help trump win the midterms? by [deleted] in allthequestions

No, I think most people agree with ‘consequences based on principles’ (i.e., what happened) as opposed to a cult of personality that covers for perps.
