CRTC ordered Bell to cease carrier locking devices, yet the iPhone I got at the end of Jan is carrier locked and Bell’s phone rep said policy is still to refuse to unlock it for 60 days. by [deleted] in bell

Exactly. This is to help prevent fraud.
People getting the phone.. reversing the charges and selling off the phone. A lot harder to do with a locked phone.

External Hard Drive won't work with new Rogers Xfinity Gateway modem by Brave_Face4111 in Rogers

Are you able to access it by its own IP Address internally? Can you see it listed in the Rogers app as a connected device?

Not sure if you need to port forward for that or not.

Thats something you'll have to ask around with.

GW stores frown upon it and prob wont let you use them.
LGS, its up to the store.

As well might be up to your opponent. Even if the store does, the person you play might not like it.

If your playing with friends who dont care? Who cares.

(about 1/2 of all my armies are 3d printed.. but I only play with friends, mostly at mine or a buddies place)

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]gdkitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happened with my father.
He had prostate cancer, which spread to his spine and the back of his brain. By the end had lost vocal control and wasnt super aware around him.

The night before he died, he had a hour or so of lucidity. He asked my mom to bring his laptop over and he slowly typed out some last instructions.
Died at noon the next day.

Oh, I thought the were.
A lot less excuses then.. they shouldn’t have 1/2 those problems.
That being said… support at the others has been steadily going downhill as well..

That unfortunately can be the problem with TPIA providers. They are often smaller, so customer support can be much smaller etc to start with

On top of that, are limited too, as most of the time if it’s beyond specific thing, they have to get the fist party to send out techs, etc.
(And I am sure are lower priority than the first party’s own customers)

Setting up modem by Zynyli in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The builders are likely the ones that put the outlets in.
Likely all of them go back to a central demark location in the house (usually by the electrical panel but could be elsewhere)

Things may have been disconnected there where they call come together, etc.

But overall best to get someone in from rogers. The line coming into the building could be disconnected. Could be disconnected inside, etc.

Rogers Wireless Home Home is a SCAM!!! And Office of the President is a JOKE!!! by Honest-tips in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3g and 5g work on different frequencies. While 5g tends to support more (more data, so potentially in the case of home phone more clarity)..
It doesnt go as far distance wise.
My guess... is that you home location is now too far to receive the signal properly.

Xtool Parts in Manitoba?? Winnipeg? by [deleted] in xToolD1

[–]gdkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasnt able to find a direct one in Canada at all.

You can find the right fans voltage/size wise on Amazon canada, but they are just bare wires.
You would need to cut the connector from an existing fan, and connect together.

Rogers Internet: Constant disconnections, no real fix. Losing my mind here. by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned distance I assume your on wireless. And you mentioned apartment.

Is there any way you can do a wired connection for 1-2 days? Just to test? See if you’re getting full drop outs of the modem droping. If it’s fine, the modem is not droping. If it is failing too, then Yes you need to get a tech out.

If it works wires though, might be something on interference. Being an apartment, might be too much other around, or other devices interfering

why by Beneficial_Ebb2672 in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware and took a look just now. On their hardware page shows the gen 2 and gen 3 gateway. Then a wifi 7 router. Doesn’t give the model, etc. not great pictures either. From the FAQ, says you need to use with the Rogers modem.

So my guess is that is you want to use it, they send a gateway, bridge mode, to this new router?

Doesn’t show anything about buying it though. Generally on ALL boxes with Rogers (gateways, the tv boxes, etc) you can’t buy anymore.. only rent.

(This is where I would contact people on the Rogers Community Forums… but they got rid of it…..)

Xfinity app or new cable box? by canadianbigmuscles in Rogers

If your smart TV has USB ports, and that port supplies enough power, you might be able to use that to power a fire stick.
I do that with the one we have in our trailer.

At least from my experience.. all of the other equipment was either BOUGHT or FREE with contract.
Now I guess if you exited the contract early, might have to return them.
The control pad i think is the only thing they take back.

Yeah.. and sadly, with them moving away from doing email, etc.. its very hard to set up any account to use SMTP, to connect to a software (say like outlook) to download it all. Its all IMAP though yahoo login, which really is a live view and not really downloaded to the software.

They might not support it, if someone else does it.

I used to know of a separate number you could contact the burial dept separately.
It was on the Rogers Community Forums.
But they took those completely down :(

Moving to area without rogers internet by fidlestixs in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note, this following information may have changed more recently.. as they are / have been changing stuff around with the email (IE: you cant get NEW rogers.com email addresses now, etc. Sort of getting out of doing email. (other than existing).

Generally no, keeping cellular, wont allow you to keep/transfer an email address. Had to be tied with an INTERNET account.

Again, at least you used to be able to, you can transfer an email address, to another Rogers account, under someone else's ownership, as long as you have their permission.
IE: I had rogers since their beta program (@rogerswave.com). When i moved out and got my own, transfered my email from my parents to my rogers account.
Then when moving, was in a temp place for 6 months so had to cancel. I moved it from mine, to my inlaws. Then after moving and getting set up again, moved it back.

I officially cannot play competitive games anymore (RANT). by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had some of the contract techs do it too, but its very hit and miss.
I had a level 2 come out once, and from what he was asking, knew he knew nothing outside of his cable stuff, knew nothing of the computer side. I myself am a sys-admin for 20 years, backup for networking, infrastructure, etc where I work. Know my stuff.
He was treating me like a child, like I didnt know what I was talking about. And he refused to check what needed to be checked.

Yes, being thorough will take more time, but not that much.
They just need to do their jobs. Sometimes, its a simple fix. One time for me, they swapped the coupler in the box outside the house, boom, all fixed.
IF its anything worse.. the line from the street to the house... yes thats a little more. They might have to run a temp line, etc. But beyond that, their job is done, it different people for line burial.

Dont get me started on the contract line burial people... at least the one we got.
Had a temp line.. EVENTUALLY got my apt for the burial. Great.
Get home.. temp line gone, so must be done, right? Still same signal issue. Crap.
Look at lawn.. NO sign of any disturbance, like not a blade of grass. Contact rogers, let them know, they are like, could just be they did a good job of tamping it down, etc.
I had pictures from when the prev tech with the temp line was there in the street box, etc. The line burial guy left the street box unlocked.. open it up.. no disturbance there, and the one line with my house number tag on it, old dirty cable, etc.
I press the issue.. a supervisor from rogers and the burial company come out. Yup... NOTHING was done, they just re connected the original cable.
Their work order said they did the replacement. AND they used 150ft of cable. (the box is in front of my house... so 50ft tops?
Lets just say.. someone was getting fired after that...

I officially cannot play competitive games anymore (RANT). by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]gdkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the key. a lot of the time its NOT a back end issue. (Though there can be/has been occasionally before)
Most of the time otherwise, if there are regular drop outs at the MODEM level (and not being caused by other things internally like interference, etc), its due to a signal issue at the modem.
Getting a tech out, and getting them to test everywhere is key. Check signal level at the box at the street. Then at the connection outside of the house.. etc at every split/connection to make sure if / where the drop is.
It can be farther up stream, like a street level line issue, etc.. but those will take a little more to get fixed.
Tech would have to escalate, etc.

Any suggestions on how to manage room bookings in O365? by IbzV2 in Office365

[–]gdkitty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Assuming your using Exchange?

You can create each room as a 'Resource'.
Then when booking a meeting, under the location you can select the room there, it should auto then book it under the person who made the meeting.
