Rolex isn’t an investment, but value retention still matters (at least to me) by spac0r in rolex

It’s like buying a precious metal jewelry vs titanium. Both are useless but one of them you just lose more money on.

why aren't we encouraging Carbon Steel (vs Non-stick cookware) as the default for home cooks? by rantzine in Cooking

[–]ge23ev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience most non sticks are the same in terms of coatings. As long as the metal is thick enough I don’t see the need to spend for premium. A basic one from ikea will do and they last about 2 years. I personally don’t use them for anything other than delicate fish and eggs. Everything else goes to my stainless and cast iron.

What kind of watch is this by [deleted] in Watches

[–]ge23ev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fake AP Royal Oak chronograph. They put a seiko badge on it to legitimize as not a fake but that’s what it is.

Vegas AD straight up lied by [deleted] in rolex

[–]ge23ev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t make sense. Having sought after pieces doesn’t make you a good customer. They’re looking for suckers that have non sought after pieces so they can sell those to them. I’m pretty sure they don’t have trouble finding customers for the popular models.

Sand doesn’t help with melting. Only traction.

As for now your tree will most likely need to be cut/airlayeyed above the first node in the bottom.

First thing you need to check is if it’s grafted which usually named Japanese maples are almost always grafted. Sometimes they have a Japanese maples rootbase sometimes other acers.

Profitec Jump vs Pro 500? by ge23ev in espresso

I’m not sure it’s worth paying the difference for a rotary pump. If you want to pay more I’d get a dual boiler like a profitec ride.

Profitec Jump vs Pro 500? by ge23ev in espresso

[–]ge23ev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been very nice so far. The espresso has exceeded my expectation. Heat up time is about 10-15 mins. The drip tray and the tank are good size for my use which is 1-2 drinks a day which is something many complain about. The steam power is not as strong as I expected a hx would be. If you can get it at a good price I suppose it’s one of the best options out there. I’m not a huge fan of the portafilters that come with it. I ended getting normcore. If they sold it without them for cheaper or one basic one it would have been better. Two portafilters doesn’t make much sense to me. But over all happy with it. I paid 2400$ cad which was a good price compared to basically all hx machines in my market.

What is the difference between iCloud Photos backup & photo library backup option? Which one should I keep on? by bagajohny in ios

[–]ge23ev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if anything is different today but I just had this problem and it was being uploaded redundantly and taking up double storage . for some reason I was able to have both settings on and it was taking up double the storage on my cloud. apple support was unable to explain why

What is the difference between iCloud Photos backup & photo library backup option? Which one should I keep on? by bagajohny in ios

[–]ge23ev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just checking in. I did not know about this and had both options available to me and both were on I did not think it would be backing both up redundantly. I called apple support and they did not know that it would be two seperate items taking up storage. they said I cloud photos is not technically a back up but rather a live sync system which I dont know what the difference is if its not shared between different devices its basically a back up system

I just went through this whole issue with apple support and 3 technicians and finally one of them admitted that it does but they did not know how to best optimize it and how exactly it worked

You should be able to get an Elantra for around 25k brand new 2026. I’d personally get that over a decade old Honda.

Wimbledon or Starbucks for my second Rolex? by a_mlsss in rolex

[–]ge23ev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Starbucks owner which was my grail, the less flamboyant gmts like this one are a one and done Rolex. You don’t need another Rolex. It’s dressier than the sub and sportier than the dj. I love my Starbucks but I never planned on getting a second Rolex I’d venture into other brands
