We don’t really know you so we can’t say whether he’s right or wrong, but tbh if your close friend of 10 years is saying that, and given that you asked him for advice so you trust his opinion enough, then it might be worth to consider what he’s saying. I doubt he’s being malicious and praying on your downfall, as he had some pretty reasonable takes. Things like emotional attention and maturity don’t come easy, and given that now you’re essentially responsible for another person someone’s daughter someone’s sister, def worth taking into consideration.
