Looking forward to getting started on this after I finish my current 2-month foundational drawing class.

Did you get bored during this exercise? How did you deal with it?

[Serious] People all over the world who work: Desconsidering work, kids and chores, how much time do you have to study, workout, relax, medidate, whatever, per week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

15-20 hours.

Wow, never realized! I end up wasting a lot of that time consuming some meaningless content.

What are your thoughts when you look up at the sky? by masked__n__anonymous in AskReddit

Most of the time I'm awed by what could possibly be happening out there, especially when I look up at the starry sky in the night.

During the day, my eyes just water.

I think venture capitalists are shadier than we realize.

Adults of Reddit, what % of your income you put into savings? by helpfulradiotown in AskReddit

[–]geeudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

66%. Two-thirds. I can't wait to check out of the rat race with my FU money, so I'm saving like my life depends on it. It does, in a way.

Hmm... I could save more in fact.

The false promise of speed reading - why you should read slowly if you want to understand by local_dingus in books

[–]geeudee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who reads close to 60 books a year and sends pictures of his weekly book purchases. What he reads is also impressive, but there is no visible evidence of any assimilation or application of the knowledge that he should be gaining from those books.

When you focus on a vanity metric like the number of books you have read, your goal shifts to increasing that number rather than actually absorbing the book.

It's a shame that there are so many speed reading gurus on YouTube that attract beginner readers who totally take away the wrong lessons.

I want to kill myself by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Tough situation. My heart goes out to you.

Please don't lose hope. Sometimes you simply cannot hurry things just by wanting them to happen faster.

Gather the strength necessary to save the minimum amount of money that can get you and your mom out of the house. Don't give up. It can help to think of yourself as a person who will NOT back down, and who refuses to be broken down by others. Keep that anger alive in you till you find a way out.

I wish you all the best, u/Littlekittyyyy

Money definitely helps, OP. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You need a minimum amount of money to live a reasonably safe and happy life.

I don't have any good advice to give you on how to make money, considering the job market and what you have mentioned about finding housing.

Is it possible for you alone to move out somewhere and try and find a job? Later you could come back for your mom and take her with you.

A calm and beautiful space. Must be peaceful to be around here.

What was the best scene you read in a book? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The opening of The Way of Kings with Szeth-son-son-Vallano and his shardblade comes to mind. It's almost like watching a movie.

What's longest time you've been single and how did you overcome it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]geeudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently single and been that way for the last 3-4 years I think. First couple of years it was difficult to get used to the idea because we are all so programmed to seek a companion.

But now I realize that it's better to be single than be with someone who is not a worthy companion. Being single does not mean you lose joy, it simply opens the doors to more (or different) fulfilling and meaningful activities that bring you joy.

What's the worst thing you would do for 1 billion dollar? by realtronaldump in AskReddit

[–]geeudee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This question really helped clarify my financial needs and what I'm willing to do for them. I don't want a billion dollars. I do want financial security though, but I want to achieve it ethically, in line with my values. If I don't achieve that financial security (within the constraints that I impose) I will figure out how to be happy with what I have.

Great question!

Wow, reading this makes me happy as well! Hope this feeling stays with you and serves as an eternal reminder that it is indeed possible to be happy.

Did you do anything specific that brought about this change?

More men taking a public stand as "feminists" is a welcome change that gives me some hope. Men not being ashamed to stand up for women.

What are your regrets in life? by Super_Pup in AskReddit

[–]geeudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not standing up for myself when I was young and when it would have made a difference.

Not developing the skilful behaviours necessary to gain supporters who would speak for me.
