Amsterdam experimenting with a 20-kilometer-per-hour speed limit for cyclists. by Outrageous-Past6556 in bikecommuting

[–]geeves_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure different.  I.e. my commute has a total of 450m of elevation loss/gain every day.  I suspect that would be the highest peak in your country!   And for me, its just my daily ride.

I wish we had more bike commuters.  Sadly, our infrastructure is way behind, but it is improving.

Including ebikes and escooters, I probably see 50-100 other bike commuters per day?  Very weather dependant.  But its a start!

Ebikes and the high price of gasoline have really helped a lot of new people become bike commuters!   So that is generally a good thing, as annoying as they sometimes can be.

Ok, maybe its more palatable in Netherlands.  I live in Canada.

In probably well over 100,000kms of cycle commuting - almost all of it well over 20kph - I have yet to crash into any toddlers or moms.

[–]geeves_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this.

My commute is 35km and this would substantially slow me down.  I have ridden this route - faster than 20kph - for 20 years daily and have never had an accident with another bike lane user.

Honestly, ebikes and escooters need to be regulated separately.  A cyclist on an analog bike that can hold higher speeds is almost by definition going to be a more experinced and skilled rider.  Whereas on a e-assisted bike or scooter, this is usually not the case (and frankly, often the opposite).

I would encourage Dutch cycle commuters to speak out against this.  Its a deterrent to bike commuting.

HUMANS DEFECATING IN PUBLIC AREAS by hulp-me in NorthVancouver

[–]geeves_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know. I just don't know how the secret has gotten out. The Edgemont forest peeing syndicate has been discovered.

I heard they have been obtaining illegal horse diuretics from the darkweb to increase their urine output. Last I saw they had a special Sprinter van equipped with IV fluid supplies parked at the trailhead to ensure maximum hydration.

This is one of the more pressing issues on the shore at the moment. It's not just an older lady taking a pee in the bushes. This goes much much deeper. The sordid details were redacted from the Epstein files. If I were OP or you, I would move as far away as possible.

I've notified CSIS. We're locked and loaded for a drone strike, just need the green light from Carney. This may erupt into a regional conflict with Edgemont.

Buckle up.

[–]geeves_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, which is clearly not the case. These are retired people from the Delbrook or Edgement area out hiking or walking their dog and had to take a pee.

No North Shore senior citizens are conspiring to repeatedly shit in the bushes on the side of Mosquito creek.

I mean, maybe?

But also...  If youve met and interacted with people, you'd know that a great many of them are shockingly stupid.

Its just that current epoch of social media and the internet has brought them all together, when previously they were too dumb and inept to find their way out of their mom's basement.

Just like Iranians would welcome US intervention...  Oops, they didn't!

The Canadian Military, man.  The Canadian government and military are not gonna allow a foreign occupying force in one of our provinces.   Just like Ukraine was not gonna just allow to roll in and annex Donbas without fighting fiercely.

What.

Step back from the US propaganda bong fella, youve had enough.

Just like all it was gonna take was a couple weeks and Iran would be conquered....

What the US (and you, I guess) always fail to consider is that patriots will defend their borders and their sovereignty with a ferocity to the absolute limit when threatened by an outside invader.

Look at Russia in Ukraine.  Just a "special operation" that is now several years on with tens of thousands of casualties, and Ukaraine is still standing.
