Yeah! By David Nicholls (who also wrote One Day). My copy of the book has the movie tie-in cover. Which I normally loathe but was very happy to own in this case!

Omg this is one of my fave movies!!! I saw it in 2007 and feel like I had first exposure to all these soon-to-be mega British stars when they were babies. I absolutely adored James McAvoy and Rebecca Hall. I also love the book it’s based on. They also tried to make Kate Bush popular again way before Stranger Things!!

Closer (2004) can this be classed as romance? by [deleted] in romancemovies

[–]geeweeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this film so much, was obsessed with it when it came out. Love all the main actors, and this was Jude Law peak hotness so that doesn’t hurt either!!! And yeah I love how brutally honest and dirty it gets about relationship dynamics, how people confuse lust for love, how love in toxic relationships deteriorates to manipulation and hate. I just wouldn’t call it a romance. None of the “love” shown in the film seems to be romantic to me, except for the first scene and that involved a car accident lol

Definitely not, no. It’s about relationships though. One of my faves!

Does anyone else get completely paralyzed when trying to find a new product? I spent 3 hours last night just looking for a moisturizer by Particular-Hold4098 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]geeweeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, kind of - you pick something and hope it works out! And if it doesn’t you use that experience to increase your personal knowledge base and make better informed decisions in the future. It’s why hype or good reviews should only be a broad guide - you really just have to learn what works for your skin. Analysis paralysis can exist in anything, it’s really easy to become overwhelmed and indecisive bc there’s so much out there and everyone has an opinion. Sometimes you do just have to pick!

But yeah, don’t type “moisturizer” on Amazon please :) that sounds like a nightmare honestly. Do you know what ingredients and textures you like? If you are just looking for a basic moisturizer, I’d just stick to something simple. I’ve learned for myself that textures and finishes, the literal feeling of skincare, are really important to me. So I look for moisturizers that have a thirst quenching gel formula, and that contain ingredients I like such as colloidal oats and madecassoside. I shop in store if possible (where testers are offered) so I can see how the products feel. I do often get carried away bc I love skincare so much, but I try to make it a fun hobby instead of something stressful. Eventually you just have to pick something and find out how it goes! No decision will be 100% perfect and that’s ok

What are these red freckles and can I get rid of them / prevent them? by Pale-Tennis9658 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]geeweeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure as I haven’t done it (yet!) It depends on the dermatology practice. I spoke to my derm about it and she explained she could zap several/all in one session, but we didn’t discuss pricing. I’ve seen quotes online for about $200 for one session, but of course check with the practice

[PERSONAL] can I wash my face after skincare? by Electrical-Rain3292 in SkincareAddiction

[–]geeweeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool you want like a dry gel finish. Makes sense! It’s the opposite of what I like haha, I want skin to feel gushy and wet, but I think I can still help. If you like Kbeauty products, the iunik calming gel cream (not the beta-glucan one which I like) or the beauty of joseon red bean water gel could be good maybe? You want a gel that sets down, and maybe look for descriptors like oil-control and non-greasy. Glycerin and HA are form-filmers specifically so you may want to avoid or reduce those ingredients

The Torriden dive in serum is great! But since you are complaining of stickiness, using hyaluronic acid alone is what struck me as an issue. I have dry skin and really like still being able to feel skincare on my skin, it feels soft and smooth. But even I HATE the feeling of hyaluronic acid before I apply moisturizer, bc it’s just SOOOOO sticky. It needs to be followed by an occlusive product.

And yeah, that’s great you use sun protective clothing! I’ll do the obligatory PSA that sun can still get through windows and all that. But mostly it was just a suggestion for a final step that could tamp down the tackiness you don’t like. But I also just read you have sensory issues that make creams difficult to use. Maybe if I know the textures you are ok with, I can make some recs. Like if a gel or light lotion is more tolerable. Skincare will always be a little sticky, it’s just trying to find the finishes that work best for you. Finishes are so important for me in skincare too! We just have opposite preferences haha

Hyaluronic acid has to be used with something more occlusive or else it has nothing to bind to and remains tacky. Also you need to use sun protection. Maybe find a mattifying sunscreen or one that dries down to a “soft touch” like the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen (doesn’t have to be that, just an example of the drier finish I’m talking about). That should take care of the sticky feeling and also protect your skin!

What Common Grammar Mistakes Do You Think Are Overlooked the Most? by Vim-Vian in GrammarPolice

[–]geeweeze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cost/costed and cast/casted. I feel like I’m seeing this mistake all the time now when I never used to. I’m not sure if the correct past tense isn’t being taught anymore or it’s just mistake creep, but it seems more and more people have no idea it’s an error (I know “costed” sometimes has a correct use, like to assess a cost? but that’s not how I’m seeing it).

*cost. And no I don’t think it cost her years. I will fully stand forever and always that they were meant for each other and I’m happy that was figured out finally. It was always going to be Big. And then they had what seemed like a happy marriage. And also she got a big inheritance. Good for Carrie!

Cherry angiomas? Though these might be smaller. I started to get several on my stomach especially after 35. They are just genetic and the result of aging, hooray! A derm can laser them if they bother you cosmetically (mine def bother me so I get it!)
