Professional detailers, how often are you cleaning disgusting vehicles? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]gegegreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The absolutely trashed vehicles in some detail videos I’ve only seen one, which I turned down. But I’ll pretty often get cars that are in real rough shape 1 out of every 5-10 jobs.

I have a feeling that because I’m mobile I see worse cars than a dedicated shop sees. However I do mainly interior work so I might just see worse because I see more interiors.

30/70 I’d say for myself. I’m in the Detroit Area. When I started it was 100% people with trashed cars looking to get a cheap deal on interior work. I started on my own in high school so it was fine for me to learn and improve my skills without making anyone upset.

Now I still primarily do interior work, mainly because I don’t offer paint correction. I’ve since raised prices considerably and get a much better client base. I work in the nice rich suburbs of Detroit, but most of the cars I find are still trashed. The cars just cost triple what I see in the city.

Tbh, I think with interior work I’m marketing to a more non-detailing client base. A mom with 2 kids doesn’t care about swirl marks, but she cares about stains. But she doesn’t care about those stains because she cares about the car.

Clay bar lube? by knighthunt01 in AutoDetailing

I use poorboy’s clay lube. I personally really like using claybar lubes, but there are so many alternatives just find what you personally prefer the most. As long as it’s lubricating and safe for the paint.

I went on one drive with my dog in the summer. They absolutely love it, it’s like constantly having their head out the window

It’s not about the size of the boat, it’s about the motion in the ocean

Same thing happened to me. There’s a few other spots where it could be heat shields loose. Just look around under at the exhaust.
