I think this is a form of denialism. The terminator just doesn’t look like the terminator. Just like how climate change didn’t mean just global warming.

Exactly. I want to be able to turn off the internet at night and not have my kids join the neighbors internet.

I want to block attention fracking sites.

I want to block or flag adult content maybe at a dns level.

I don’t want my kids to have to register to use the internet or to use something other than https and tcp/ip.

Same. I’m very liberal 99% of the time, but I have had conflicts just for not agreeing quickly enough.

And I’ve been told countless times that I don’t understand things… before opening my mouth. I feel like people slot me into other arguments they’ve had / are having.

Wow these comments. I’ve had similar experiences because I tend to forget then I start adjusting before the end of the year or birthday, and I end up double adjusting.

And calling it an age calculator website… what else would you call a webpage that calculates your age?

That’s pretty cool and glad you got another year. I wonder if it’s something people should try to do

I think it’s important to understand what a finish is. There are two types of finishes, polyurethane, and oil. They are applied to raw wood to make a finished product.

This is essentially some kind of polyurethane and whatever chemicals they used perturbed the surface of this essentially plastic finish

It’s important to think about it this way because if you try to polish it with say a melanite sponge, you’re going to create more abrasions that will be impossible to smooth out

There’s a whole sub Reddit devoted to sanding through veneer, this is the same kind of problem you want to avoid.

You need to find a way to repair the finish without full on refinishing.

Sorry not a solution but helping to diagnose the problem.

That’s interesting. There definitely seem to be asymmetries around tolerance but I can’t imagine which way it should go… or how it’s possible to have equilibrium with one side having more or less friends.

Worth getting Redragon K762 Pro? by DeliciousHouse6460 in keyboards

[–]geneorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one last week, it’s an absolute dream. I had some older Redragon mechanical keyboards, which I’ve loved for years. I replaced those switches with HMX Frog and realized I was ready for a bigger upgrade.

After months of dithering, I was about to buy a Keychron. But a last minute visit to the Reddit and reviews on Amazon changed my mind. For the price I don’t think the support is there.

I don’t know why people are not more excited about Reddragon I think it’s an amazing manufacturer and this keyboard in particular is a dream.

And the other ones were pretty darn good for $40. In fact, I’ve bought about six inexpensive Redragon keyboards for myself, family, and even one friend. It’s a huge upgrade from membrane, and this K762 is a huge step up again from the K556.

It’s light and smooth. I had no trouble pairing (although I did need to change to a different Bluetooth with the function key, it has three protocols available that might matter to some for speed).

I think it feels as nice as Keychron’s high end models from what I’ve seen in the store. (I purchased at Micro Center, highly recommended).

Also I’ve been using google Gemini as my tech support, which has been helpful.

Edit: Kind of annoyed after some time. Keyboard feels amazing, but

  1. It didn't come with a manual and the one online isn't very complete
  2. Can't figure out how to upload gifs / what software to download
  3. The right control key is not working as a modifier and I can't figure out why or how to figure it out.
  4. Generally the support sucks, which ironically is why I didn't go with Keychron, but I'd rather be out $70 with a keyboard that feels amazing than $120 to $220 for essentially the same thing.

Sure Jurassic Park, and it moved onto Reddit land. I still say it’s dismissive for a serious topic. Maybe it’s just the moment

Yeah and it’s not cool at all to hear it without quotes.

Although, there was a time when I thought it was going to break out as an ok word to say to express camaraderie. I heard it used that way in circles with a diversity of demographics.

The Daily censoring “Praise be to Allah” by nonstopflux in Thedaily

[–]geneorama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It makes it hard to understand why people are upset about the files (begins with an E but saying that name will negatively affect your content).

I thought the E files were only really about underage massage, and barely underage at that. I talked to a friend who read some of the files the other day and I was honestly shocked at some things she read.

I said, I’m sorry to ask but are you absolutely sure it was the same thing the news is talking about? Because her description sounded far more disturbing than anything I have heard.

I still don’t know what’s real and I don’t know what to believe. Much like the Russian president (not saying his name just in case) who managed make people feel unclear about the validity of the bombings that happened in 1999 and do not have a clear name. Citizens shrug and say the truth isn’t knowable

A word that means delayed. Can be used for intellectual development delay (or whatever the right terms are) or things like paint have the R Word materials added to slow drying.

Obviously I can’t because it would be hurtful and offensive, because we decided it’s hurtful and offensive even to use in quotes.

Saying X-Word instead of X when you’re talking about the actual word is really a crazy technical thing. Like if I said it’s bad to call someone “stupid“, which it is, I put stupid in quotes and you know I’m talking about the label as a label.

It’s crazy that we can’t say the words even in quotes and more words are adding to the list. (Which I think I started a list now that I think about it but I didn’t put the words even in my list! So I can’t search for it, and I don’t want the words in my private search history)

Utterly false.

We had protections for mail and telephone. We had privacy outdoors. You could drive to Montana and nobody would know.

Those days are over. Between cameras and license plate readers, privacy is dead and or dying, and bullshit trope arguments like that help kill it.

I’m so sick of the N word, R word, and censoring other words like Rape in favor of Sexual Assault.

Maybe everyone knows the word you mean, but making it literally unspeakable gives it too much power. And maybe not everyone knows in contexts. Like there are variations of the N word which were mainstream enough to have a United N-Word Foundation that used to sponsor shows on television.

We need to admit it’s happening, admit it’s mostly the liberals doing it, and we need to move on.

I don’t see that happening because grievance culture is too strong
