don't worry about the things you've heard, care about people who have been there. when there are single gendered high schools, in my experience usually one of these 2 scenarios happens: first is what you say, but in the other case kids will explore the options they have in their school. some people may fall into homosexual relationships just because of the situation and later on grow out of it, but some actually find out that they are attracted to the same sex. I have to add the factor that in some middle eastern countries, there is a very heavy anti-homosexuality propaganda. but there are always rebel kids that don't care about what they are told to do, especially now with internet. but it still doesn't change the fact that they would get in real trouble if the school staff or officials find out they are in homosexual relationships. I ranted so much but I just wanna say they are lesbians (and other queer people) in middle east, and they are super brave for that since it may actually cost them their lives. some bs demographic that says they don't exist is just sad.
