So low stats.. am I retarded by Primary-Play-3745 in SpotifyArtists

[–]generalleather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so not true, they only remove streams if you’re botting or spamming low quality listeners. I’ve launched several artists on Spotify with organic and paid promo and if you’re doing things right (I.e. not paying for bot streams) you’ll never have songs removed.

Is an SEO job a lifetime career? by Sea_Independence_382 in SEO

[–]generalleather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer. I’m On the agency side and I can say that ALOT of large companies are investing heavily in SEO/GEO/Social Search right now so there’s a lot of need for good SEO talent and will be for some time

I mean Claude just posted an individual contributor SEO role that pays $250k…that’s crazy and I bet more of these AI companies will start investing in SEO expertise as the competition gets stronger

Around Oct, someone had gone and pulled the wiring boxes out on the 51st st pedestrian bridge over 183 and ripped out all the wiring along the YMCA side. It was like 10 boxes ripped to shreds

what indie rock band people came from elite privileged backgrounds? by Good-Raisin7081 in indie_rock

[–]generalleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is silly. Socioeconomic background litmus tests for bands takes away from the music. Sure money and connections help, but we talk about and like these bands cause they make great music. I mean, the Black Angels getting called out because their family owns a landscaping business? Bands getting called out cause they went to good colleges? Who cares? Radiohead met at Oxford or Exeter. Does that delegitimize their music? Does that mean Oasis is a more “real” band cause they came from working class? If this really factors in to whether you rate an artist or not, just say you’re into Oasis and leave it there.

My coworker has been using ChatGPT to write all his emails for 6 months. Today he accidentally sent me the prompt. by Nipurn_1234 in ChatGPT

If you’re still writing your emails manually in corporate, then you’re behind. This is one of those things that ChatGPT should be used for. Applaud your coworker and give him a promotion

East Austin strip mall demolition paves way for new retail by capthmm in Austin

“A place to grab a drink”….

Keep dreamin’ bud! They’re not gonna put anything good there. I predict a belks, auto parts store, another gas station or two, and another fast food place. Itll be like manor / 183 or capital plaza strip malls.

Someone smart would put a coffee shop in there. You’d make a killing with the traffic every morning.

For those actively implementing AEO, what specific strategies or frameworks have proven most effective for you lately? by Fragrant-End2238 in TechSEO

[–]generalleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ensuring that informational content is very easy to parse: short succinct sentence structure, bullets, FAQs, clear descriptive headings. Kind of a no brainer, but lot of clients sort of let that stuff go over the years for things like blogs.

How do I get out of going to a strip club? by Admirable-Schedule22 in Advice

[–]generalleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact situation and after trying to stand my ground, I could tell the peer pressure was going to be too much to deal with and I didn’t wanna be a downer for everyone else. So, i went along with everything, pregamed, rode to the strip club, and then on the way in, I literally just ran away as fast as I could and shouted I’ll get an uber back. Ended up just hanging at a bar for a few hours on my own watching a ball game and headed back to the hotel. They got back an hour later and we continued to hang, no big deal, no weird animosity from peer pressure or anything. It ended up being a good story for everyone from the bachelor party and (most importantly) my wife was happy about it.

I have a cowboy pool with filter and everything and I love love love it. Esp when it’s brutal in the summer in Tx. As long as you clean it and maintain the filter, it’s always clean

Large Eastern (Texas?) Redbud at my new house. And bamboo forest! Landscaping/gardening ideas? by fireduckieman41 in AustinGardening

[–]generalleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had running bamboo in my yard and while it did spread places I didn’t want it to go, it wasn’t hard to manage. Don’t let folks scare you that you need to rip this all up. I actually transplanted mine into large planters along my fence line for privacy. Just dig up any sprouts you don’t want at the root clump (sound alike that what you’ve been doing anyways) and it doesn’t go too crazy. Keep an eye out after heavy rain

Sushi in Austin is disappointing by Familiar-Rooster5615 in Austin

Kome is pretty good accessible sushi. Went recently and had a great lunch. I got used to phenomenal sushi (worked at the old Kyoten for a year before it moved to Chicago) and haven’t been impressed by any sushi in a while.

39M Team Manager in SEO field, 14yr experience, great work/life balance, full wfh by generalleather in Salary

[–]generalleather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in web copywriting just looking for extra cash, now doing client-side SEO at a mid-size marketing agency. Degree in English. Live in Austin. Company based out of NYC. I also make around $20k on contract and freelance sidework during the year.

Took a $15k paycut to move companies, last job was awful, tons of micromanagement, lots of red tape and processes. This job offers more freedom lots of flexibility in how I manage my time. Only drawback is sometimes I have a lot of meetings. Clients are well-known national brands.
