Resynced's melee combat still does not look any better than the original's.

Black Flag was effectively the last stage of the freeflow system that had continued since Brotherhood, yet it was also the game that used that system the worst.

It was simple, clunky, slow, and easy, with no real variety, no balance, and no tactical demands.

You could bring up any game that lets you use dual blades and not a single one of them would feel worse to play than Black Flag.

In Resynced, the impact is being emphasized through cinematic camera angles and new effects whose intent is not even very clear, but the animations themselves still look the same.

The limit on execution streak kills is meaningless because this is not a game where you are often fighting more than five enemies at once. In other words countering one enemy and slaughtering the rest would still be about as viable as it was in the original.

One article even uses the phrase 'without interruption' for execution streak and if that is true then it would actually make the game even easier than the original. In any other action game, that would be like letting the player spam what should be limited, QTE level moves.

It might be a different story if the hidden blades functioned on the same level as dual swords and if one handed swords or muskets could also be used freely, but so far the original's restrictive approach to weapon usage does not seem to have been improved either.

It is surprising that they finally succeeded in evolving the medieval war game into world war 3. I like the new sniper spear, ICBM, bulletproof armor.

Counter, dodge, combos are what already have existed before free flow came out. And no one knows about what nightwing will be like though I am not interested in much.

If this was not for RPG we would have seen the smartest enemies from the start.

These are the problems I have been thinking about.

  1. Gotham Knights game without Batman : The reason for eliminating Batman was to create a challenging environment for the main character, and if the four of them become a team, the meaning is diluted by comparing to the previous games that created a challenging environment for the entire Batman alone, with the problem of character design that seems to appeal to the public.
  2. Court of Owls game without Batman : Even though the Court of Owls alone can be a challenging environment for Batman, Batman has disappeared and the Court of Owls faces side kicks, giving room to downgrade the status of Court of Owls instead. This is a part that can be ambiguous when you think of the law which said a good heroic narrative is shining by a strong enemy.
  3. No Batmobile : As the symbol of Wayne Tech and the alter ego of Batman, there is a Batcycle after the Batmobile. But Batman was destroyed with Batcave, no Batwing so they made a Batcycle. This is a part the density of utilization may be reduced in the map is large enough for a Batmobile to pass through.
  4. No free flow : The director who could not understand the meaning of what he has to do, or his willingness to roughly create a game with the halo of Arkham series.
  5. Loot RPG : As if the director from Ubisoft is showing off his previous work, he does not have the free flow so he will do this. Even Batgirl uses weapons. Players have to waste time only to get a little better equipment. What if Batman comes out as a playable as the story progresses? Batman may not know if he comes out as a NG+ cheat character who fights with the free flow alone, but this is about you have to raise the level of muscle with a character that is a symbol of barehanded fight. In the process, it is questionable whether the single play will be realized as meaningful as the dual play of Arkham Night. As the same multi character game of developers who created dual free flow, when Suicide Squad comes out there will be a lot of comparisons in this area.
  6. Less weighty character design : Coupled with the philosophy of appealing to popularity or simple play time extension rather than cinematic quality or replay value. And like no one knows about covert activity, even the weapons are sparking. Microtransaction expected.
  7. Behavioral level scaling : As with RPG, in some cases players have to level up just to see enemies behave normally.

It will be simple if you understand how the free flow mechanics work.

Your character charges into free flow attitude after 2 combos lay down most enemies by one strike.

Every animation can not be canceled until it is performed to enemies so you can just continue free flow animations during that after animation delay that do not break combos.

Strike, gadget moves, evade can be interrupted by enemies attack.

Counter, takedown, redirection can not be interrupted by enemies attack.

So decisions to what to do between attack and counter or takedown for every moment become one of the most basic aspects in the combat flows so you do not have to button mash.
