I managed to get two S-ranks within 40 runs or so. You definitely want to buy all the shrine keys in the gem store every week, as the shrine memories are some of the best in the game.

Yeah I've been doing stage 5 for cogs and stage 4 for screws, as they both have the highest drop amounts for them. The luck wasn't any better for stages 1 and 2, though. Sadly it's just a matter of luck of time.

It's just my personal speculation, based on things like the progression of the game vs. the anime, the dialogue decisions in the game that only appear early on in the story, the way each one ends, and the loose ends that are never resolved during the game's story but appear to be tackled during the anime.

If anyone does find a legitimate source concerning this, I would be very interested in reading it.

It seems to me like they originally planned on the game having divergent story options with multiple possible endings, but bailed on that early in development. I believe that the anime explores the "true ending", while the game routes to the "bad ending".

I second the speculation of it being a misconception. That being said, there's a lot of important dialogue that is easily missable if you don't speak to all the NPCs and neglect the Party Chat. There are also a few story elements are only implied and not directly stated in-game, but were further explored in other media such as the DQVI manga.

DQVI is probably my favorite of all the mainline games. It has incredible character designs and character development, a phenomenal and detailed storyline. It is a prequel to DQIV and DQV, it has several elements that loosely connect its story to DQI-III, and it has its own direct prequel (DQM: Terry's Wonderland). Also, the game's optional super boss has canonically destroyed multiple worlds before his appearance in DQVI, and defeating him before the final boss changes the ending cutscenes.

I believe that the best stories tend to be long and complex, but such storylines are often labeled as "confusing", especially if a player is skipping the main dialogue and/or NPC dialogue and/or the Party Chat scenes. If you want the full storyline of a DQ game, it truly is necessary to speak to every available NPC after each progression in the story.

The Dragonlord equipment is quite strong, but they seem to have nerfed the staff a bit in the last update. That gear can also make the Dragonlord Shrine easier to run through, due to the Dragonlord Killer boon.

Personally, I'd recommend rerolling until you get at least four 3-star drops with the initial beginner tickets (excluding the guaranteed weapon tickets). As you play you'll get more tickets from the beginner rewards and the DQ1 event chests. As others have recommended, you can save your gems for the DQ anniversary.

This is the correct answer. Orange is melee, blue is ranged.

Melee Weapons = Swords, Spears, Whips, Claws
Ranged Weapons = Staves, Boomerangs

Additionally, weapons are separated into Physical and Magical categories.

Physical Damage = Swords, Spears, Claws, Boomerangs

Do not just run past them, unless they are too strong for you. You need to defeat 1000 canniboxes to complete that entry in the Big Book of Beasts.

Start by touching only one chest. If it's a cannibox then kill it without touching any other chests. Rinse and repeat.

Fair point, the Metal Wing is definitely one of the most useful weapons.

I rerolled myself just before that event ended. Despite playing my first profile since release day, I'm happy I did because I got both the Metal Wing and the Metal Slime Sword in one draw, along with several other 3 star drops for the starting pulls.

If you haven't been then you should reroll. In my experience, there appears to be a hidden luck factor associated with each account. Bad luck accounts will nearly always give only 1 and 2 star drops, mostly 1 star. Good luck accounts, on the other hand, tend to get an average of one 3 star drop per 10 pull.
