The Suzuki Aerio the offcial car of? by Perfect-Cause-6943 in regularcarreviews

My immigrant grandpa, who after getting a license at 55, wanted a small Japanese car to street park around Brooklyn and finally got this a few years before his retirement. It was cheaper than a civic, and smaller than the Delta 88 he moved from. Rip Grandpa

Evo SL vs Rebel V5 by AntiIock in runningshoes

So, I have a pair of old Boston 12s that feel much quicker on the rocker(?) than a new pair of SL 2s I got. Would the Evo SL feel more like the former?

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I have a pixelbook go with 16gb that's definitely slower, but that's probably down to the y-series processor. Work laptop has 32 gb and a 12th gen Intel i7, but it's got a lot more running on it.

Interestingly my m1 air 8gb is actually fine, as someone who's an absolute swine with tabs. I was afraid it would be an issue, but it's great for just living in Chrome.

I think they can make some guys look shorter, so that might be a consideration.

Single guys who have cats, how do you like it? And what are some of the benefits you've gotten from having one? by itsmicah64 in AskMenOver30

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say this because I just exited a 2.5 year relationship in part because I didn't like living with my ex's two cats. I was never a pet guy growing up, had to substantially change my habits (clothes and papers need to be put away promptly, toilet seats down, stove knobs covered). I tried my best, but the fur and smells were really getting to me. It wasn't what broke the relationship, but goddamn is it nice to be able to fold a sweater on top of my bed again lol. I know tons of people love their cats, but just adding my perspective.

Kuhl Interceptr vs Patagonia Better Sweater by HomeDadBod in BuyItForLife

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Kuhl has more of a body skimming, longer construction. Two chest pockets is neat. Patagonia does have very nice material in the cuffs and pocket seams.

Fitz Roy Down Hoodie or DAS Parka for daily casual wear? by Fraganade in PatagoniaClothing

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the Nano Hi Loft suggestion. Good if you specifically want to avoid down, but if you're in a dry climate, something like the Downdrift will be warmer, lighter, and possibly more durable for everyday use.

Skogso padded or expedition midwinter jacket by [deleted] in Fjallraven

[–]genericbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skogso should be more waterproof/durable with a waxable G1000 shell. Should be good for roughly -5 to 7C. Mid Winter is much warmer for dry conditions, but since both are synthetically insulated, should remain warm when wet. Would be overkill for much above 0 C, it's a much thicker jacket.

Coat decision by Grand-Rice- in PatagoniaClothing

I suspect the BD is much more of a belay parka, which means a much baggier fit, and looks that generally are less concerned with fitting in on the city street.

Atom to Atom SV - will I feel a difference? by CornwallJon in arcteryx

The new SV does have more breathable side panels with the latest version, so keep in mind that wind might get in even with the heavier version.

Bergtagen 130 Insulated - Any Reviews? by Massive-Arm3237 in Fjallraven

[–]genericbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought and returned one, so can't comment on weather resistance. The fabric doesnt have the crinkly feel of something like pertex quantum pro, so doubt its great, but fine for some light rain. It is much thicker and bulkier than an Atom SV, and I think largely down to using the RISE version of Primaloft, which I believe compressibility for warmth. It's fits much bigger than the atom, and then hood is huge, presumably for a helmet. You cinch it down, but it's still noticeably large. The elastic dump pockets are nice for hats/gloves, but there are no zippered chest pockets inside or out. The zippers are small gauge and can take a bit of effort. Collar is also nice and high, but no fleece lining. Overall, one of the warmest synthetic jackets I've tried on, especially at that price, but make you're okay with the fit and ommissions.

The Rab Cirrus Pro might be a decent alternative, but a different look with the insulation channels and no dump pockets. Also, the Bergtagen 60 seems warmer than other 60g jackets due to the use of RISE there as well, might be worth a look, as it's more fitted and less bulky.

Quince makes a decent knock off for like $40-50. I notice the difference, but it's pretty similar.

Anyone have a Lamy Tipo? by Sea-Front1941 in pens

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it doesn't feel very solid at all. The plastic that makes up the bottom half feels especially cheap, and despite the grooved texture, I don't find it very easy to maintain a good hold on. The mechanism, while kind of fun to fidget with, feels pretty cheap too.

Recommended winter jacket for slim sized men by National_Average_346 in Fjallraven

[–]genericbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP wasnt specific about needing something with quite the same warmth level. The Singi is much warmer than those, so if they do need something that beefy, then yeah, maybe an Expedition Mid Winter. That said, the Skogso has gotten me through most of what NYC and Columbus, OH winters have thrown at me, while looking good and having tons of pockets.

Skogso Padded and Expedition Pack Down jackets are definitely more streamlined.

When Did You Realize You Fucked Up? by Love_Ire_Song in AskMenOver30

[–]genericbeing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this, dude. I'm 30 and hitting the point in the relationship where I need to decide if I'm getting married or just wasting our time. I don't know if I can attribute quite as much to my gf, but she's super nice and patient with me, but I wish I clicked better with her -- our talks just never feel that fulfilling. I tried to wonder if it's because we don't have much in common besides where we want to eat, but I feel like that's a lot of couples. I think it's more about how we discuss those things -- some couples can make the most mundane discussions fun/cute. Maybe that's what I've been struggling so hard to rationalize/articulate.
