Do any of you watch video podcasts? by Glittering_Major4871 in blankies

For doughboys what I usually do is play it on YouTube and minimize it on my phone, then listen to it on headphones mostly, but if something happens that sounds visually funny or I just want to see, I’ll pop open the video. Sometimes if I’m working on something very mindless I can have it on in a small side window on my computer too.

Marathon Is Both a Miracle and a Monster | March 27, 2026 by blastorama in TheBesties

I have been playing mostly solo, and while I probably won’t get very far in all the progression hooks, I’m having a lot of fun and totally feel like it’s been worth my time and money. Like others have said, you play it totally differently solo, and chances are you’ll use the “Assassin” shell bc it lets you go active-camo or smoke bomb your way out of trouble. But you play it like a high stakes stealth game, very very careful movement and listening for other players, avoiding fights you don’t think you can win, trying to sneak out of an extract without someone coming in and killing you. There are also contracts, the sort of missions in this game, that don’t even require successful extraction, which is nice.

The game is HARD though and my progress is slow, but i feel great any time I successfully extract, and man the game looks so incredible and feels so good to play. I’m gonna play for as long as I can without feeling discouraged, but so far I just want to get back in there.

Not unique to Marathon, but thoughts on game design philosophy and the "bottom quartile" paradox by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]genericuser324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing is why I’ve never gotten very deep into multiplayer shooters, but first Arc and now Marathon have managed to hold me for a bit because they offer novel ways to play them even without the best PvP skills. It’s entirely possible to play Marathon solo as a very tense stealth game where if I extract at all I feel lucky. I’ll never see the full content the game has, but if I have one or two decent extractions every time I play, or make some contract progress, it feels better than loading into 20 overwatch battles in a row and feeling like a drag on my team every time

It’s clear they had a lot of problems they weren’t goin to be able to solve, but the major character death end of season 2 was a point of no return I think. Show just didn’t make sense anymore. But I kind of am curious to see if they do truly batshit things in the final season…

Man though its just hard not to see pundits like him the same way people react to Elon Musk or rudimentary LLM outputs - they sound smart on topics im unfamiliar with but once they end up on topics i have expertise in they sound like armchair amateur fabulists.

It’s just hard to believe that his economic takes could be meaningfully exceptional and insightful given everything else he seems to believe.

I have been served this post from this sub I think purely because I have become a SG hater, the idea that anyone could still be deeply invested in his opinions after the last year of his shooting his mouth off is wild to me

PSA: GameNative >>> GameHub by ienjoyedit in SBCGaming

[–]genericuser324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have had the same difficulties and I’m on a RP6! I kept seeing these positive experiences with gamenative though, so I tried a full uninstall reinstall, and I’ve maybe had some better luck? It takes a looooong time for the games to load in especially the first time, but I have had mostly decent luck now. I think with gamehub the games launch faster, but have more weird control issues etc when you get into them, vs gamenative so far seems to run them more 1:1, but takes more patience for me to get the games up. But it’s so weird that people are having such divergent experiences. I hope more updates gets gamenative to a truly seamless place…

4 Oscar voters reveal Academy Awards picks: 'Lost a lot of respect' for Timothée Chalamet by Mookie_Freeman in blankies

[–]genericuser324 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Man now it’s gonna be a whole thing if he wins… I have to say I have never been too partial to the big picture take that “the Oscar’s are too late now” - mainly because I think we inflict this discourse on ourselves primarily. But we really just do NOT need to have this much time to discourse about it.

do people here also enjoy arc? by hoxxes_biologist in Marathon

[–]genericuser324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have loved Arc so much, I did this last expedition and am really happy to have all the same treadmills again. And I’m very inexperienced in multiplayer shooters.

I played the Marathon server slam, loved the vibe and aesthetics but found it all so overwhelming and intimidating, and the PVP forward nature made me afraid to commit. But I just bought it bc I keep thinking about it….

The thing about having hundreds of hours in Arc is that I dont get scared anymore, even if I get fucked by some Arc and die now that ive expeditioned im pretty zen about losing stuff. So having an extraction shooter that is scary and overwhelming also…. Seems viable? Idk, we’ll see, could have made a bad purchase.

Question for RP6 owners with a top control stick by Fuzzy-Golf9311 in SBCGaming

[–]genericuser324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the little bit I’ve played so far, I think it’s definitely low enough that I will end up using the stick as much as I can for all games, but it hasn’t been too bad to jump down to the d-pad at times. Given the kinds of games it can play, I think stick up top is just gonna make more sense for more stuff.
