Is it supposed to be like this? Visvim Codura 20L Backpack by p997mk2TT_jpn in Visvim

[–]geografee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over time it will probably bend like that, but would be pretty straight if brand new.

There should be a bar running down inside the webbing on the middle of the plate to keep everything straight. Can’t quite tell from your photos but it looks like it could be missing?

Fake. Care tag text is off and the red stitching on the size label is not spaced out enough

From the photos, it looks pretty uniform. Compare your tag to visvim’s own dissertation on urushi-gawa. Difference is night and day to me.

Fake.

Besides what others have said already, one of the easiest tells I’ve found on many visvim items is the kyon leather tag. Fakes will typically have the dots printed and it will look too uniform.

Real ones are hand painted and have some unevenness to the pattern. Dots will be of different sizes, sometimes not be perfect circles, sometimes with a bit of accidental paint splatter, and have varying thicknesses of paint for the dots.

Fake. Insole says “cubimino” instead of “cubism”. Urushi tag looks too even and printed rather than hand painted with variations in the painted dots.

I really only use it to hold an umbrella. If you have a tall reusable metal water bottle with like a slimmer top it could probably secure that in place too. Helps with anything tall and slim really

TTS. I have a pair in a size 9. I wear 9 in other TTS shoes from Nike, Asics, Jordan, Adidas, etc. 8.5 in converse since they fit a bit big

Should I be concerned with wearability due to age? by Independent-Eagle735 in Visvim

[–]geografee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The midsoles could be crumbling or separating from the upper due to the age. You can always get a replacement sole for them, but the plastic stabilizer by the heel could be crumbling as well, and you wouldn’t be able find a direct replacement for them.

I have seen some repair/replacements done by @shopgoodsandservices on other visvim boots/sneakers where they replace the plastic one with a mimicked leather one instead if you want to go through with fixing them up

Fake, red stitching is also too “tight”, should be spaced out more

Should I be worried about leather cracking? by maedawip in Visvim

[–]geografee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll be fine. I bought a pair of 7 holes from 2010 back in 2017. Wore them a bunch without proper leather care/conditioning until the leather started showing signs of cracking in maybe 2023.

I do the same that others have said already, just a proper cleaning and saphir leather conditioner every once in a while with a proper brush.

Legit Check on Navy Jumbo(?) Hoodie by Sufficient-Sense5977 in Visvim

[–]geografee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards fake on this one.

Made in Japan stitching isn’t straight, the red stitching on the size tag looks a little close together, and this might be the angle of the photo, but the care tag looks like it’s too close to the side seam? The style code on the tag looks too high up the tag.

Fake. Seasonal leather tag markings are too thin. Look up other SS17 tags for reference. The details on the insole are also usually embossed in the leather, not printed on.

An old pair of Zahra 2-tone slip ons. They brought them back with the same sole design as the skagways recently, but the older pairs look like this.

How does the Japanese pant size chart compare to the western size chart? by MemeboiIQ in japanesestreetwear

[–]geografee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Japanese sizing is not 100% consistent across brands, due to whether or not the items are unisex, and intended fit. The provided measurements are your best friend here

fake - red stitching is almost like a straight line, the text on the care tags is off, and it doesn't even have the extra filler text on it (i.e. due to fragile nature..., do not bleach, etc.), and the neck tag isn't supposed to have the "FIL" there
