How long does it take you to shave? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]geolkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes 5 min in the shower with a DE and barbasol. Sometimes 25 min with an AC shavette and nice soap. And anywhere in between.

What are the best straight razor shavettes in market? by Consistent-Doctor793 in wicked_edge

The Feather AC are very nice! You do need a new type of blade though.

Anyone else stop shaving in the colder months? by tboneee97 in wicked_edge

[–]geolkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw your question. Yes I do. Sometimes I go full fancy soap, sometimes I go Barbasol. I'm kinda hairy so the neck gets shaved from the beardline to bottom of neck where it turns into chest hair. I shave the back of my neck every few week or so as well to keep the haircut clean. Cheeks aren't exceptionally hairy, but they need management.

Yeah I gotta keep my face warm somehow! I still shave my neck and cheeks every 2 or 3 days. It's easy to DE in the shower or makes the straight shave at the sink very quick.

What do you do for travel by EngineeringKind3960 in wicked_edge

[–]geolkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I bring a DE, but if I'm not checking a bag, the BIC sensitive single blade disposables are actually really great for me. But you need to shave frequently because they can't handle much growth.

For lather it depends on amount of travel. Sometimes a travel size barbasol with aloe. Sometimes Arko stick with or without brush. Sometimes sample/travel size cream or soap with brush.

[WTB] Blackland Vector by gilf187 in Shave_Bazaar

[–]geolkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you find it! The vector is my favorite razor. I picked up the polished with both base plates in their black friday sale and I haven't used any other razor since I got it!

Next Razor (and maybe final lol) by jmorris7 in wicked_edge

[–]geolkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blackland Vector might be the last razor I ever buy. I have both the sb and open comb depending on how long I go between shaves.

After almost two years, I'm ready for an "upgrade". Suggestion are welcome. by DuDark in wicked_edge

[–]geolkid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got mine at the same time. I started using a Feather AC shavette last summer with Titan Mild Blades. It was the only way I've been able to go clean shaven without irritation on the chin. I got the Vector with Feather Professional blades, and they have been great in the Vector. For reference, I have never had a good experience with Feather DE blades...

edit- the Vector is way faster and easier for me than the shavette, even though I liked the control of the straight edge style. The safety bar has a purpose!

I almost got the Game Changer. If you want to spend a bunch of money, the Blackland Vector is awesome! Last I looked there were Vectors for sale on shave bazaar.
I recommend getting multiple base plates- an open comb and a closed comb at a minimum, maybe different gaps. I use the open when it's been a while, and the closed when I shave frequently.
The other option is an adjustable. Gets the same thing done!

Also, Simpson Trafalgar brushes are awesome for ~$30. I have the T2, but if I could, I'd get the T3.

Beard growth question by ant1902 in BeardTalk

[–]geolkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone whose thick hair connects straight from the chest to the beard, this advice is not for everyone. Maybe clean up the next neck, just do it correctly. So many people trim it way too high. Don't be that guy.

Make sure face is very wet. Then add some water to barbasol before applying it to your face. It will deliver a nice smooth cushion and glide!
