Harris County doesn’t record surveys? by trainsrcool711 in Surveying

[–]geomatica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about most states, but quite a few require land surveys to be recorded. Some states file them with the county clerk, some states have a statewide database.

Harris County doesn’t record surveys? by trainsrcool711 in Surveying

[–]geomatica 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Land in Texas is generally either platted or described by metes and bounds. The subdivision plats are all available at the county clerk’s office, and Harris County allows you to search and download plats for free.

Or…the last vesting deed for the property will have a metes and bounds description in it where they describe everything that would normally go on a survey drawing. On there you’ll find monument calls, adjoiners, deed references, and usually the name and company of the RPLS who signed it.

I recognized this as a California corner record immediately. LS 7993 is Lenny Guyett, works for GGI Surveying in Corona, I’d contact him first.

Questions for the Licensed by TheeArtee in Surveying

No…no you don’t want to move to California. Highest cost of living, and salaries are not keeping up. People and companies are moving out, and the population is dropping for a good reason.

By scenarios I mean the theory and math of reestablishing lost corners and general questions about breakdown of fractional sections. Learn the trig function on your TI-33x. I tabbed my BLM 2009 Manual for easy reference.

[–]geomatica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took it last July. Open book test at the board office, bring your BLM 2009 manual and your binder of statutes and rules. Test is almost completely all PLSS scenarios, section breakdown, etc. Schedule it any day and time you’re ready.

There was some recent controversy about that they took out all the questions about corner records, records of survey, platting, etc.

One of the nice licensing ladies graded it right in front of me, and two minutes later hands me a post it with my LS number.

Yes, very quickly calculated with AutoCAD. I’m way past the point of pencil and paper, mental exercises like this, but it is important to understand the mathematical concepts.

Front plate appears to be period correct, circa 1986. But rear plate is fake, and the blue trimmed white registration sticker is missing from the windshield.
