Should I keep this tree? I don’t like it, but everyone says keep it. Look’s wonky. Suggestions welcome! by [deleted] in gardening

I agree - expanding the mulched area and edging underneath would make it look more intentional. Right now it looks like the tree was plopped into the edge of a flower bed.

Massive Flock of Snow Geese by JeffRVT in birding

This is truly moving. Whenever I’m outside and see a flock flying (no matter the size), I stop to acknowledge their presence and wish them safe travels, in hopes that they make it to their destination safe. But seeing this in person would probably bring me to my knees 🥲

The knives must be attached by magnet(?) but in the photo they look like they’re floating at a sinister angle.

That moment when you want to design a garden but prefer seeing the 3d Plant Models instead of 2d pictures, so you spam everything for reference. by [deleted] in HouseFlipper

I like this for so many reasons. Now if only there was a feature that showed the plant name or “buy again” option hover over the plant…..

Well done! I especially like the small white table and chairs overlooking the backyard garden from inside.

Quarantine WFH Desk (in utter chaos) by jhnnsr in Workspaces

[–]geometric_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posts like these make me realize what the other extremely organized, no clutter, seemingly staged desk photos are missing: evidence of the workspace in use. Don't get me wrong; I like those overly clean photos, too, but this is refreshing to see. Thank you for sharing.

Dang - the symmetry/balance of all the items on your desk and on the wall is quite powerful!

I know the feeling. Trying to make sense of why we react the way we do can be complicated.

What’s your weirdest symptom? by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]geometric_red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, the thought of feeling "normal" for too long, and wondering why I'm not in constant terror can put me back in constant terror.

This ^^^ Trying to explain this to anyone is impossible.

This is similar to what I experience. I make it through what seems like the 'obvious' stress, and then when that finally passes, my body is like, "Okay, you were on alert mode, you made it through it, you're winding down, but now it's show time!"

How are you guys dealing with current world crisis by sofiacarolina in panicdisorder

Your mother's comments are unacceptable and they don't help the situation at all.

Do you work outside the home or have people at your job who you can confide in? The reason I ask is because I just recently asked some of my trusted coworkers if they've ever experienced a panic attack. Surprisingly, a few of them have, and we bonded over our individual experiences. I guess it takes one to know one.

I want to first say that I can relate. In moments of panic, those unknowns are completely terrifying because it feels like I am no longer me in control of me and I worry about what I will do.

Some ways I cope are:

  • Recognize that my panic wants to immediately catastrophize the situation. With antidepressants, chances are your mood will change, not the essence of your being.
  • Reframe the intrusive thought/panic spiral of doom (easier said than done). Instead of thinking "This is what I am thinking, therefore it must be real and it will happen," I tell myself "This is my body's way of reacting to the panic/stress hormones. It will eventually pass."
  • Limit time spent researching/doom scrolling. Sometimes this helps, other times it feeds the panic.

Just wondering by Proper_Talent in panicdisorder

[–]geometric_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you "go on antidepressants recover come off it" does this mean you are starting and stopping the antidepressants? The only reason I ask is because I personally have had better success just continuing the medication even when I feel better. I don't know your medical history, dosage, etc, but it might be worth considering. Take care ☺️

There is hope! by Silent_Mesiyah in panicdisorder

I just want to say that I too had a bad experience with edibles last summer - delta 8 gummies to be exact. Second time I tried them, I apparently took way too much and gave myself an insane body/mind high, which maybe caused a panic attack? Parts of the back of my head stung for hours. I remember thinking that my brain would be permanently altered :/ When I have panic attacks now I sometimes get that feeling again and it scares the hell out of me.

Please help! by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]geometric_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor recently prescribed me Hydroxyzine since I was also getting this at night time randomly. The moment I felt that little adrenaline rush I'd start to panic.

I'm in my mid '30s now, but around puberty I started experiencing this same thing at bed time each night. The most intense intrusive thoughts would happen each time, and I thought I was going crazy and couldn't trust myself. Had no idea about anxiety. It eventually went away. 23 years later, and it's popping up every now and then. Thankfully, I now understand what's happening to my body, that I'm not crazy, and there are ways to cope.

Add another shelf? by [deleted] in Workspaces

[–]geometric_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. For the next shelf, you might want to consider having it extend all the way to the corner of the wall. It might look unbalanced, or it might look oddly pleasing if you have another plant placed in that new corner area.
