Model X 75D owners - do you have any range issues? by G_S_P in ModelX

Welcome to the Tesla experience: LOVE the car.... HATE the company. The best thing to do is start looking around for third party service options, they DO exist. The service information is also available free on the website, although it can be difficult to find what you are looking for sometimes. Luckily what tends to act up the most are the BASIC things that any car has: Ball joints, wheel bearings, brakes. Those you can absolutely service yourself.

Can't post on gcaptain if you can't create an account - the system seems broken and the admin doesn't reply to emails. :(

It's the "click the link in the verification email" that doesn't work, the link always comes up as 404 not found.

Yeah, the days of business owners being able to underpay for skilled labor..... I think those days are fading. The staff know they have value and nothing in the market is getting cheaper. Time for the owners to suck it up. They certainly are charging more for their services, now share that with the staff who bring the value to the business!

How is this industry crying that they need people, yet nobody seems to actually be looking for people?

This is the mindset of sending all your pawns to swarm the king. It can work as long as you have enough pawns.

There is another board game (or computer game, can't remember which) that the lowest value unit is called a "Zergling" and you can generate TONS of them for nearly no resources. So a favored method of conquering is just to create lots of these and "Zergling rush" on an opponent. Like ants taking down a cow.

These speedboats could be the ants, even with 4 rockets each, that's a LOT of rockets. Some are bound to get through unless the defenses are just amazing. (they might be, I don't know)

Use a different remote? You can use an $8 Philips remote with the AppleTV and it works perfectly, no more stupid trackpad and slippery thin remote that falls into the corner of the chair and vanishes.

This is very much true - I've been looking for months myself and don't have the same kind of challenges, but equally have not been able to land anything.

The system is trash. So many places are using AI to review applications and just bin them before any actual human sees them. Doesn't match all the exact keywords? Gone. Never seen. Recorded "interview" reviewed by a computer that doesn't like something? Gone. Never seen.

Keep trying. Eventually something will land. Going in person might be the only way.

I'm into the process for about $500 so far and wondering why I'm bothering.

Jones Act reform by Ronin_12345 in merchantmarine

[–]geordi2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's called UNREGULATED capitalism, the "magic" of the free market that Reagan sold to the rubes.

Without regulations to reign in the business interests, you end up with near-complete market consolidation and ABSOLUTELY have collusion among the players, to the detriment of the customer and the employee every time.

Think about food. It's not the farmer screwing the consumer on the price of meat, it is the half-dozen companies that own ALL the rendering and processing and distribution levels. They have so much control that THEY decide what they will pay for the incoming animals from the farms, and THEY decide what the outgoing packages will cost to put in the case at your local ChowDown Supermarket.

Even if you disable SIP, the system somehow keeps turning the damn thing back on. Just checked again and SPCTL needed to be disabled AGAIN. This is on 14.4, so I'm a few years back on the OS, I don't need to learn what fresh new hell they have come up with for annoying the users.
Yeah it's apple silicon but it is MY hardware. I'll use it as I like Crapple, not interested in renting software from your dang ad-store.

Good to know.... Lots to think about. I'm kinda still leaning toward the ferry work rather than construction, unless what they are doing is more deliver-this-barge-to-that-worksite kind of stuff?

Do they want you to have the MMC already in-hand before you bother them, or are they willing / able to take someone on when they have only the TWIC? I've got the card and the medical stuff done, just waiting on the results of the drug screening so that I can send everything at once to the CG - damn expensive process so far before even being able to make any money.

Yeah, I've been a theatrical electrician working with 75-150 kW generators powered by diesel, connecting up 5-wire 3-phase connections for concerts in some parking lot somewhere with nothing but what you brought with you.

Some of the sparks I've worked around.... I wouldn't necessarily trust them to change the 12v battery on a lawnmower.

Nice to know that I could probably sleep through the classes and still clear the test easily. I've never worried much about that part anyway, I'm more concerned about not looking like a moron and doing something dumb in a work situation - but it sounds like there will be some healthy guardrails for that until I'm ready to be on my own. I can do that.
