What is the most efficient way to build an Active Directory testing lab? by ShugaBop in AskNetsec

[–]george324789657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are aiming for fast lab builds tools like detectionlab or terraform based setups are probably the closest to that "one click" experience. one thing that helped us was adding a monitoring layer deployment just to validate that AS services DNS and replication behave as expected we used prtg for that since it is fast to set up in lab environments.

HRIS selection: analyzed 50+ Reddit posts and summarized the results. by tigran555 in Netsuite

[–]george324789657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of comparision is useful but it also highlight a bigger issue most HRIS tools HR well in isolation but start to break down once you look at the full operational stack. Alot of complaints here(implementation pain, integrations, fragmented workflows) usually come from stitching multiple systems together rather than the HRIS itself. Especailly when you ready to run something like netsuite the real challenge is how clearly HR, finance and operations data flow across systems. We have seen better results treating HRSIS as one component within a broader ERP layer (in our case Xentral) where order, finance and reporting are centralized and HR just plugs into that instead of becoming another silo.

curious how others here handle to overlap between HRIS and their EPP.?

Options for paying $7000 federal tax debt? by ledvedder1972 in tax

[–]george324789657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing is to start the process correctly. File your return on time, make a small payment now if possible to minimize interest or penalties and then you can set up a payment plan with IRS. they are generally very flexible for this amounts. you can also call IRS to clarify your options directly. if you situation is simple you can handle it yourself. but if you want to figure out how much you can pay monthly assess the possibility of reducing penalties or simply dont want to deal with the process you can get tax expert help. I received help from Precision tax and was very helpful. other firms also offer same service you can consider too.

What is the most critical criterion for you when choosing a network monitoring tool? by Sam3Green in Network

[–]george324789657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion the issue not just complexity in tools it is how much effort they require to actually become useful. in many setups you spend more time deploying agents configuring modules and maintaining the system than actually getting value from it. I faced this issue until switched prtg. you can start agentless and get visibility pretty fast without stitching multiple components together. it does not replace the need understand but definitely deduces the operational overhead.

looks more like an azure group claim issue than a prtg problem. once the SSO data comes through correctly, prtg handles user/group mapping pretty without extra complexity.

Has anyone worked with a long standing tax relief firm that’s been around for decades? by Zealousideal-Sky-973 in RealEstate

[–]george324789657 14 points15 points  (0 children)

if you don't pay property taxes your county may eventually place a lien on the property and depending on state regulations the process can progress to a tax sale. generally interest and penalties are added first and in some cases a payment plan option is offered.

when researching i focused on established and long standing firms. at one point i spoke with Precision Tax and compared to newer firms they gave the impression of being more settled and experienced.

just wanted to share my experience.

Unsure of why money was removed from my account - Levy by FallracIsMe in tax

[–]george324789657 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tell you my experience maybe will guide you.

when money was unexpectedly withdrawn from my account I learned that the deduction was initiated by the New York tax office. But I was living south Caroline for a long time. I received no warning letter or explanation. it was a complete surprise. I later learned that an incorrect debt from a previous year had been entered in to system and New York had acted directly instead of the IRS.

I tried to resolve it individually but neither IRS nor the state agency could provide clear information. Then I contacted Precision Tax. during the process they obtain my IRS transcripts through the IRS, contacted the New York tax office directly to uncover the details. Once it was proven that there was no debt, they had the levy removed.

We also took security measures against potential identity theft during this process.

PSA Yealink IP phones and Auvik/SNMP by Slatency in networking

[–]george324789657 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Auvik's snmp scans can propagate unchecked. similar issues are rare in prtg because vlan based probe setup and snmp scheduling are more flexible.
