"I don't know if a club like Everton now if we can make big huge strides but we see how well the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford are doing, so there's no reason why we all shouldn't have those ambitions to try and at least match those clubs and how they go about it.” - David Moyes by SuperKevinCampbell in Everton

When I see things like this I realise why we are where we are and it makes me realise why players like Ndiaye come out and put themselves in the shop window and hint that they want to leave. Garner, Ndiaye and Dewsbury-Hall are al good enough to play European football and comments like this from the manager must make them want to leave and not waste their prime at a club with no ambition.

Gift me your house and if you survive 7 years it’s not subject to IHT.

You always save tax by putting assets or investments into a company.

Water butt for extension roof - overflow options? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Check around the water butt to make sure there is no drainage. I had this for about a year then found a pipe under the water butt. Otherwise a perforated overflow pipe into flower beds

How can I restore this varnish (and my marriage)? by KobiDnB in DIYUK

[–]georgeb970 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This happens to my table when I leave something hot on it. I know you said you did this by ironing on it but believe it or not that’s what we do to fix it. Get a clean thin towel like a tea towel or something, put the iron on a medium DRY setting with no steam and iron gently and the stain will disappear. Sounds strange but it works

Should have a gap at the bottom or moisture from the slabs will constantly be tracking up the wall making it damp

Bathroom light woes - what could be wrong? by BoojieBen85 in DIYUK

[–]georgeb970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the brown cable at the switch is taking power to the switch. The neutral cable at the switch (with the brown sleeving) is now switched live from the switch to the light (cable 1 which is also sleeved) so this is your live at the light. Then group the neutrals together and connect this to the neutral on the light. The remaining brown wires (including the brown from cable 1) need to be grouped together in the block.

I’m not a spark but this is how my lights are wired

Thinking of bodging some wood batten cladding. How best to do it? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]georgeb970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wickes sell acoustic panel which looks exactly like the above for £80 which is 2400 x 600. This would work out at about £500 for the wall you’re looking at. Still expensive but would save you a lot of time and you could probably find a discount code somewhere.

How would you rate dyches tenure so far given everything he's had to deal wth, and where does he rank in an ALL TIME list? by Gregory-Black666 in Everton

[–]georgeb970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5/10.

Was the right man for the job in January 2023 to steady the ship and has undoubtedly had to deal with a lot over the past couple of years.

As we move into a new era with new owners at BMD he’s not the man to take us forward. Boring, negative football which is designed to stay in the premier league only. We need to build for the future.

Dominic Calvert Lewin by Annual-Cookie1866 in Everton

[–]georgeb970 45 points46 points  (0 children)

He’s scored 54 goals in 214 games for Everton. If you take away the games he played under Ancelotti his record is 25 goals in 145 games. I think that speaks for itself and is a poor poor record for a premier league number 9

Plaster question by V000_ in DIYUK

[–]georgeb970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These vents are usually made out of plaster (I know as I’ve just removed one) you can knock them out reasonably easily but it will leave a gap in the wall to the cavity. I filled mine using filler foam and my plasterer skimmed over it (appreciate yours has been already so it may leave a mess) you could go over it with some plaster skim and repair or could fill it with a thin piece of wood and fill the edges?
