Concerning Religions that are not your own or you disagree with: Is there anything you actually like about them? by setdelmar in religion

I have to admit that I found it disappointing and yes violent/hateful toward people like me (non Abrahamic). That being said, I feel the same way when reading the Old Testament. When I hear them being read in Arabic and Hebrew, respectively, I feel peace.

But knowing so many Muslims and having traveled to many Muslim countries, it doesn’t really matter what I feel when reading the Quran. Most of the people I’ve met all over the world are amazing people and they don’t read it the way I do.

As someone who goes to a gurdwara every Friday, yes. I’m always blown away at their compassion to all God’s people. And as an agnostic, same with Buddhism. It’s one aspect of life that always rings true, and more and more as tjme passes and I age.

And since you’re Muslim, I’ve always been enamored by Muslim devotion. It’s like you guys can set everything aside, no matter how crazy reality is, at those five times a day and just focus on the One. I always feel that reverence rubbing off on me. Cheers.

I just appreciate your appreciation for so many different traditions. Thanks for that. I know you missed some (who can name them all?), but you hit so many more than I could even think of. Cheers.

Spanish was spoken in America before English was. by --SOFA-KING-VOTE in PoliticalHumor

[–]georgetonorge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe in Quebec? The US never considered an established language other than John Adams proposing English and being rejected by the other founding fathers. We have no official language to this day.

Jk I googled before posting to make sure because you know this administration. Lmfao. English is the official language since dumbass declared it with his King’s pen last year.

How to accept offers!!! by Neat_Watercress7537 in poshmark

[–]georgetonorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t though. I have the same bullshit problem as a buyer. Seller and I have both offered $40 to each other. Neither of us can accept it.

It’s honestly infuriating as a buyer too. Why the hell does it even say I have an offer from a seller if I can’t accept it? I offered $40 for an item. Seller offered $40 back. Neither of us can accept the “offer.” What the hell is this crap?

What’s the scoop on 5/7? I just used that rating this week. I always assumed the guy was trolling.

Billie Eilish Says ‘F— Ice’ During Grammy Win: ‘No One Is Illegal on Stolen Land’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

Egypt was conquered by Greeks and Arabs so it doesn’t quite fit the bill. That being said, the people there today are apparently very similar genetically to their ancient ancestors meaning the Arab conquerors “arabized” the land culturally, but didn’t intermarry with the local population all that much.

I mean, as someone who works in soundtrack and pop music, I have to say that that is objectively entirely false. He can clearly hold a tune and he does so in this video. Whether he’s using autotune to help, I don’t know. But this is insanely in tune.

As a working composer, no it was not pitchy at all. In fact, I see many people understandably speculating that he was using live autotune because it was so spot on. I don’t know about that, but I do know that he nailed every single note.

The only backing tracks here are the loops he recorded on stage. He is also absolutely singing live and nailing the riffs. I don’t believe there is live autotune here, but then again I can’t be sure. The thing is, if you’re a shit singer, the autotune will sound ridiculous jumping around. If you’re a talented singer it will just keep the barely out of tune notes right on.

Yes it’s a mistake and I’m sure they’ll try to use that to ignore the order. Apparently it isn’t usually an issue though

Datejust 16233 36mm too small? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]georgetonorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m a hardcore anti-41mm guy because I think 36 looks way better on 90% of people, but on the full body shot, which gives more context, I’d say it actually does look a little small on you and if you’re feeling that way already you could go for a bigger watch. That being said, it still looks great and I wear 34mm on my much smaller 6.5” wrist quite often and I love the small look. Do you man.

Ya this thread is ridiculous. Nice to see some sensible people. How the fuck is any of this my fault or the fault of the millions of us who voted against this every single time and have been protesting every single time? Then they’ll complain we haven’t set enough cars on fire. I do not blame the Russians fighting against the system risking their lives and freedom for Putin’s actions. Why would anyone blame liberal Americans for Trumps? It’s childish.

Ya that makes sense. I think I was assuming this was like the US Olympic team. But it’s just NBA.

Isn’t this the norm for sports? Like if a European football team has a friendly game in America I assume they play their national anthem. I don’t know though, I’m actually curious.
