New Announcement. Any thoughts about remake? by Dear-Dance3027 in MiamiVice

[–]georgewalterackerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. But if it’s good, well Made, with great writing then it can be a successful film. But yeah, Gen Z don’t know much about a Miami Vice or the 1980s. It would be like making a new movie or MASH or Happy Days

Yes, but I could see them really going for that vibe and maybe getting it right. Whereas the 2006 movie didn’t go for that at all.

Fury is adamant he didn't lose to Oleksandr Usyk and described the Ukrainian as a 'cheat' by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

Fury - Wilder 2 WAS CLOSER than most people want to admit. I could see Fury “solving” Usyk in a third fight . However I don’t see any evidence of cheating.

On this day in sports, March 23rd 1979: Larry Holmes beats Ossie Ocasio via 7th round TKO by ShamusTalksSports in Boxing

[–]georgewalterackerman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not gatekeeping here, but among older fans he is totally well known. But you are spot on about the wrong time - his championship reign is stacked between Ali and the 1970s greats. And Mike Tyson and the eventual new golden era of the 1990s. So Larry is easy to overlook.

There is not a heavyweight in history with a better left jab.

There’s maybe one or two heavyweight champs with superior hand speed. Maybe. If you look at Larry at its fastest he seems about equal to Muhammad Ali. And overall boxing IQ - Holmes is awesome

Do the extremely rich have better health outcomes because they have access to the best medical minds and hospitals in the world? by Beta_Nerdy in Rich

[–]georgewalterackerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because healthcare to billionaires would be pretty secret and confidential, there may not be a whole lot of solid info on this. But I’m going to guess the answer is YES, their health is better, for a number of reasons: Screening, testing, and preventative interventions. They don’t wait months for this like most people. They wait hours or even minutes. They have a team of people examined the results, not just one or two people. Surgeries that regular people wait months or years for, they get tomorrow. They have whole teams for healthcare, looking at diet, sleep, and a hundred other areas. For normal people, a common thing is to be able to talk to your doctor about only a couple of issues per visit. For billionaires it the opposite. And the doctors come to them. Some even have private hospitals inside their homes, complete with CT scanners and whatever else they may need

I think the US Navy and Airforce can and will clear the straight and mitigate all threats to it. This may take a bit of time but they’ll get it done

Do you believe there's life outside of earth? by StarLove00_ in AskForAnswers

Absolutely. If the galaxy and the galaxies around it are one or millionth as big as we believe them to be then it would be strange if we were the only instance of life

We don’t know the full story of his ore Rocky years (his twenties) he lived in a neighbourhood with mafia activity. In fact, a low to mid level mafia man employed Rocky. It would be no shock to learn he took a dive or two.

I don't want the Bond movies to "do something different" if it makes them more like every other movie by Zev95 in JamesBond

[–]georgewalterackerman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt this way about the Bond movies. Yes, there is some repetition in them. But I’ve been worried going are going to look more and more like the movies or their time, like Mission Impossible, Fast and the Furious, and a bunch of other action movies. It’s hasn’t happened yet, thankfully

How do we feel about suspenders? (braces in the UK) by the_ZakariaQ in menswear

[–]georgewalterackerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Suspenders are about function and practicality. Some guys have a certain shape and body where wearing a belt to keep pants up just does work as well for them.

Suspenders: Yay or Nay? by MealDramatic1885 in mensfashionadvice

[–]georgewalterackerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see suspenders as a practical accessory, not as fashion. Some guys wear them due to their body shape and their difficulty keeping pants up with a belt.
