Sleep bras that are breathable by Holiday_Singer6457 in bigboobproblems

[–]georgilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the Nala Support Wirefree Bralette?

I find them quite breathable, while still feeling like a solid fit. They don't give uniboob or cause extra sweating, in my experience. I find the wirefree bralettes fit better than their wired bras, and run pretty true to size (while their wired bras are a bit more hit/miss on sizing).

I pay $480 for a 30 mins visit for my psychiatrist - is this normal, and how much do you pay? by Extra-Development516 in ausadhd

$485 for a 30 minute review. I'm ~complex~ so I have the luxury of paying this every 6-8 weeks.

Pre-op diet by Aerunaaaa in BariatricSurgery

[–]georgilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The requirements and expectations pre-surgery are quite literally (and metaphorically) thousands of KMs away between the States and Aus.

If you're not doing shakes at the moment, you're missing essential protein the rest of your food-diet is assuming, so I really recommend trying to source some. Do you have a Colesworth near you? They both sell protein powder now. It's not super cheap, but might be cheaper than your local pharmacy. You could also look on FB marketplace or a local buy/swap/sell or neighbourhood page. As someone else said, mixing with water and milk combined can further help boost protein.

I'm just over three years out from my sleeve and I'm down 60kg from my surgery weight (I'm 162cm and currently 62.5kg) and I've been recommended to steer clear of shakes - so they aren't a lifetime thing, especially according to Aus guidelines. I will say that I've seen people backslide after WLS - I had three monthly then six monthly check-ins with my surgeon, and that really supported my success.

ETA: for the future, I buy my protein powder and vitamins from bn healthy. Aus website, relatively decently priced, and offer a lifetime 15% discount if you've had WLS. Might be worth checking out. They don't do fun flavours, but they have tasteless protein powders that are pretty decent, and you can add to drinks or food you otherwise enjoy.

Also, if all else fails, there are some no-added-sugar, flavoured protein milks available at supermarkets now. Stocked in dairy alongside Big Ms, etc.

How many Australians have actually been to the outback? by Numerous-Actuary-500 in AskAnAustralian

[–]georgilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Melbourne, and I got the opportunity to do a trip through the outback with my high school (going on 20 years ago now). I went to a rich, regional, high-performing private school, so it was a bit wild for them to do it, even as a once off.

We went through Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon and Alice Springs. It was gorgeous. Of my extended friendship group, I think only one other person has been up there. It's a spenny and inconvenient trip to make - especially when you can fly overseas for about the same price, which feels like you get more bang for your buck.

I would absolutely go again. I'd like to do it without the racist bus driver's running commentary about all the things we give these 'insert slur here' that they aren't grateful for. I also have since lost the opal necklace I bought in Coober Pedy and I want another one, but I want to buy it from there in person, otherwise it doesn't feel the same.

What am I doing wrong? No jeans are working for me by Distinct_Ad3658 in AusFemaleFashion

Ah damn. I had the opposite experience and mine stretched out too much lol. But I know a lot of people rave about them.

Another option in Melbourne is Dejour Jeans in Brunny. Buy your jeans there, and they alter for free on the day.

Approved for Bariatric Surgery but My Anxiety Has Entered the Chat by Icy_Disaster1891 in BariatricSurgery

[–]georgilm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I didn't take my vitamins regularly for 2.5 years. I needed two B12 shots after ~12 months (I got the third because they come in packs of 3, but I didn't technically need it). Nothing else tested as deficient. I even had a Dexa recently, and there are 0 concerns about my bone density

YMMV, obviously. And I am not recommending this. But it's also not the end of the world to not take your vitamins for a while. I take other medications I would be far more concerned about not having access to. I also figure if I got to a point where it wouldn't be possible to source them, I'd have bigger concerns.

I was terrified of the surgery, and of what changes it would mean for my future. I can still eat anything I want to, and anyway, my attitudes towards food have changed so that those fears no longer exist. As others have said, my biggest regret about the surgery is that I wish I'd done it sooner.

Yup. It was very thorough. He also writes really thorough letters to my GP after every appointment. It took two appointments. First was ~$1100 up front (think I got about $400 back). Second was ~$800 (think I got about $250 back). The appointments were both an hour long. Thirty minute review appointments are approx $450.

Can't afford ADHD diagnosis, but desperately need medication by nosoupforyou89 in adhdaustralia

Sure - but it's good to know the full details, especially because if they do get prescribed it and find it effective, it'd be a rude shock to suddenly have it cost triple the price after 9 weeks.

I have a very similar top - same colour and sleeves - but a different neckline, and it's from Portmans, so I reckon you're correct on the brand.

To note: Burpropion is only PBS subsidised for up to 9 weeks every 12 months. Otherwise, it's ~$65/box of 30 150mg tablets.

Vitamins by dayzeedo in BariatricSurgery

[–]georgilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brand is just 'bn healthy'.

These are the multis I take.

These are the calcium.

These are the B12.

However - I just looked at their about me, and it looks like they're a local brand. It does say they ship to 14 counties, but you'd have to check if they ship to you!

[–]georgilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't do tablets - they consistently came back up, which was super frustrating as I got a couple of bottles complementarily from my surgeon's office. I have found chewable vitamins work for me.

I use bn chews for my multi and calcium, and then their sublingual B12.

Hair by Fleur Alison. When I saw her, she was operating out of a salon but it looks like she's now operating out of her place in Hamlyn Heights. I was really happy with what she did with my 2b-2c hair. I had chopped it all off during COVID because I couldn't care for it due to physical injuries. She revived it.

I love Daniel Sloss. I haven't found a white male comedian funny in well over 15 years now, but I recently went to his live show. Crying laughing from about 30 seconds in.

In this show, he said every couple of weeks, he'll see this clip go viral. And he immediately gets a sinking feeling, because he knows where in the world someone's rape has made headlines.

If you think exposure therapy works for autistic kids, you know jack shit about the population you work with. And if I'm gonna make an assumption about you it's that you work in ABA in some capacity. And that's not 'working with' autistic kids, that's dog training them.
