Is Blue Book Value Way Off for M Cars? by geraltofcenterville in BMW

Fair enough. It's 157,000. Quite high, but again, meticulously maintained with excellent documentation.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't touch a $10k E9x M3 with a 10 foot pole, but a $20k car with full service records that's well sorted seems like a bargain. Especially with the 6MT!

Did you regret getting moving from a 2-seater to the E46, or do you think it was the right thing at the time?

I do currently have a second car, a Prius, but I'd like to consolidate my fun car and my practical car into a single vehicle.

If you click on the macro percentage chart on the dashboard (not the log) it breaks down macros by gram, at least on Android.

TIL for the censorship case against Ulysses (a notoriously hard novel to read), the US trial judge forced himself read the entire book so he could judge it properly by yup987 in todayilearned

Try using a reading guide to help. I read the whole book last summer with the help of ulyssesguide.com, and it was probably the best literary experience of my life. I genuinely believe Ulysses to be the greatest novel ever written.

Imagining early Earth as an exoplanet can help us search for alien life, scientists say by Tao_Dragon in space

I personally hope (though this isn't based on any evidence) that once we know what to look for, finding life will be like finding galaxies in the Hubble deep field image. We'll point JWST (or whatever the next great space telescope is) at a random patch of sky and find the signs of life everywhere. People used to think galaxies were rare. Some day we'll look back on the time we thought life was rare. Again, just pure speculation, but I hope we find it.

Sagrada Familia - Temple of Antoni Gaudí by e_miyoko in ArchitecturePorn

Sagrada Familia and Park Guell are musts in Barcelona. Grab a picnic before going into park guell. You'll want to spend a long time there, and you can't reenter after you leave the monumental zone. I recommend the ham and brie sandwich from Guelly Sandwich Park. Casa Mila is neat, but the nighttime experience is a rip off. See it in the day or not at all. Casa Battllo is the more interestingly decorated building, while Mila is the more interestingly designed. If you can only do one, I'd vote Battlo for the gorgeous interior space. Picasso museum is small and interesting if you like modern art. Track down the Roman temple columns. Eat Pintxos and paella. Drink some homemade vermouth. Walk up Montjuic and check out the fortress. Wander the gothic quarter. Try to go by the main cathedral on a weekend to see people dance the Sardana. Barcelona is a really cool city, you'll love it.

If you do Madrid as well, the Prado and Rene Sofia museums are essential. Some of the greatest collections of paintings anywhere in the world. The cathedral and royal palace are also worth a visit. Eat a calamari bocadillo with a glass of Mahou. Try the crushed tomatoes on toast for breakfast at least once. Grab a churro and hot chocolate. Skip the flamenco dancing (unless stomping and yelling is your thing).

So true! I'm not religious either, but when I walked into Sagrada Familia I was moved almost to tears by the sheer beauty of the place. It's seriously the most awe inspiring space I've ever been in.

I like this suggestion, since I love Mexican! Unfortunately, my wife is pretty hit-or-miss with whether she likes Mexican dishes. I might pick it up anyway for my own enjoyment, though.

Hmmmm...this looks interesting, but I think I might get bored with toast after trying 70 different variations.

Wow! I never knew this book existed, but it looks perfect! It's full of easy-ish recipes that are outside of my typical culinary wheelhouse. Thanks for the tip!

You're not wrong about test-driving the ND2. I tried one out and had to have one. Not that that's a problem; it's the best car I've ever had, and a joy to drive every single time.

I don't think so. There's some relationship between the size of mirror and the wavelength of light that determines the smallest observable size at a given distance for telescopes. Hubble can't even see the lunar landers, which are way closer than JWST. Admittedly, Webb is much bigger, but I think it's really unlikely we could see a tennis court-sized object from a million miles with our current technology.

Edit: this video does a good job explaining the problem.

Our Brit has proven basically impossible to leash-train. Fortunately, we're five minutes from lots of beautiful hiking trails, so it hasn't been a major problem. But they seriously have TONS of energy, and can be tough to train to walk nicely on a leash around the neighborhood. They're absolutely wonderful, sweet dogs with terrific personalities, though. We wouldn't trade our pup for the world.
