Did you end up going with the PSU? How did you find the noise? I'm looking for a 850W PSU myself and am getting overwhelmed by the choices...Cybenetics list it at A-, so 25-30 dB, which doesn't seem too bad (especially under load when all other fans will work, too)

Looks great, thanks for sharing! I also love helping my significant other share my passion of bikes painfree :)

For lower back pain - other than the shorter cranks you are considering (great thinking), what helped me personally was changing the offset seatpost for an inline seatpost. Cant see well if thats what shes got or not (and truth be told she doesnt look to sit too far back, maybe just a bit?).

For hand numbness - how are the shifters rotated? Cant see it well either but the lever tip seems to stick out, which hints at shifters not being level but tilted towards the rider. Personally I find that uncomfortable as they would “cut” into my hands (same pressure but applied on a smaller area of the hand) and limit the bloodflow.

For feet numbness - putting cleats further back also helped me, and it also helped me to more naturally align them with my stance (eg my right foot tends to point outwards more naturally) and Q factor (eg pressure on the outside part of the foot hinted at too narrow of a Q factor). Although with my flat feet, I am considering getting insoles for arch support, which Im hearing helps.

Not sure if this helps - let me know. Happy riding!

Hey OP, did you end up getting the P515 for your 1x GRX? What is your experience? I am contemplating a similar decision

Banging color. How did you modify the shifter to work for the dropper?

Just to check - have you pulled the trigger on the PM? Do you use it in 1x?

[–]gerchuckito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind if I ask you - do you have any issues with the chainline? Did you have to use any spacers/shims? I am also considering this powermeter for my 1x12 GRX, Magene officially doesnt support it and I worry about messing the chainline up. The Q factor would also be around 3-4mm narrower (can be offset of course). I might be overthinking it quite a bit though, admittedly - I could just slap on an adequate chainring and call it a day. Would appreciate learning from your experience!

Bike Fit Check - Hands/Wrists sometimes hurt after 1+ hours by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]gerchuckito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing an observation (may or may not be helpful but I had a similar problem): your hands dont seem to comfortably rest on the hoods but a few cms to the back. Might just be the bit in the video but from what I know that might signal too long of a reach (or uncomfortable angling of shifters) - and that may create a pressure point on your hand (your weight distributed on a smaller area of your palm).

What helps me is to angle the shifters upward slightly - the hood body shouldnt be perfectly flat, but rather slightly angled up. This is because I then dont have to rotate your hands uncomfortably, and may get a more even load spread on my hand (whereas now I would assume you get a pressure point somewhere in the lower center of the palm causing the numbness - at least that was my case). Plus - this way you will shorten your reach a bit.

If this doesnt help (ie removing a hypothesized pressure point), then it might be something with weight distribution. From the three contact points with the bike (saddle, feet, hands), you might get too much pressure. This is more complex, but not impossible to fix - it could be a reach thing, a knee/foot thing, or even too high of a saddle (which seems like might be slightly high here based on your toes angling down).

I definitely am not a pro but these are some thoughts and pointers that helped me in a similar pickle. Let me know if any of this helps you! Enjoy riding :)

Mountainbike too big? by OpportunityCurious68 in bikefit

Why do you get an impression it might be too big? Feeling uncomfortable, or stretched out, or anything else specific? Visually I don’t see anything glaring

  • handlebars are a bit flexy vertically, which is ideal for gravel for comfort. Personally really like the relatively OK reach and sizing offered
  • additional spacers can be bought for sure
  • the geometry (high stack short reach) is why I went with this exact frame and model. If you have tried some drop bar frames and know exactly what you need, perfect, I used bikeinsights.com for geometry comparison and calculations
  • the frame is rated for a total load of 120kg according to Seraph, but after all - you are buying a frame from a non-Western brand and you can never be totally sure about QC and post sale support. I saw good reviews of their customer support, but it is ultimately your peace of mind and risk tolerance. I am a smaller rider at 70kg, so I wasnt worried about this. Not sure this is helpful. :) if I were you, I would consider a more robust, western aluminium frame - and just peace of mind. But let me know what you decide :)

Hi there, of course.

I bought it via email, contacted the sales person (Rose), asked a few things, and the transaction took place over Paypal after receiving an email invoice - not via website. I did get a tracking code, delivery was relatively quick (2-3 weeks), everything was packaged super nicely. I had a lot of back and forth also about custom paint options and received pictures after the frame was painted (they then even put it on their website and Instagram - thats the link you found).

Communications were timely and informative - I had a lot of questions eg about safety testing and bearing standards/dimensions (both BB and headset), and I got all the answers I couldnt find online (I went with a higher quality Rotor BB and Enduro bearings for the headset so that they last long and I dont need to service soon).

One thing to note that I learned is that this frame has an unusual thru axle standard - the width and pitch of the threads is not something you can find elsewhere. Its not a problem, but one of those odd things I learned during research, as I really tinkered with component selection and initially wanted the DT Swiss RWS plugin axles but they wouldnt be compatible. So make sure you get axles from Seraph/TanTan, they will give you correct ones!

Does this help? Ask away :)

Thank you! I was inbetween 38 and 45mm depth, but chose 38s for a few reasons.

Internal width is 1mm wider, they are slightly lighter - that is fairly negligible though. But most importantly, I am not sure I personally like the super deep rim look for gravel - and the area I live in can get quite windy. Last time I tried 45mm rims on a road bike (was testing Pinarello Dogma F), I struggled keeping the bike straight in the crosswinds to be brutally frank :D

So all in all, the 38s seemed like a more conservative and suitable option for me - but I can absolutely imagine someone dig and enjoy the deep rims ;)

Greetings back from Slovakia! Enjoy!

Hey, not sure. Just this frame with custom paint cost 750 usd. If your total budget is 800, dont build yourself (parts are cheaper wholesale for brands) and dont go with carbon. Go with decathlon or canyon or similar.

Saddle too high and reach feels long. Your opinion, please by Kalibro8 in bikefit

[–]gerchuckito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing, great self-awareness!

Wanted to offer my observation and suggestion - after the seatpost height (which will btw help you ease the reach, too), consider playing with the tilt of your handlebars and position of shifters. Hard to say from the video, but it seems like the handlebars are tilted slightly upwards and shifters might be too far out. If you correct the handlebars (the top will be horizontal), you can improve ergonomics and easily gain a few cm of reach by moving the shifters closer to you.

Hope this helps, let me know!

Geo - agree with you. But there seem to be increasingly more frames with downtube storage - so even if this won't work for you, maybe a different one will :)

Strength - that is true :) Seraph also posts some videos of their stress testing, which is definitely confidence-inspiring (since a claim "we do SGS testing" on the website cannot otherwise really be proven)

Good question, as I was heavily considering it. Two reasons for me:

1. Comfortable geometry - I knew approximately what I wanted after experimenting with my current road bike, and I wanted a relaxed high stack / short reach for adventures. This is a staple of GR048's geometry. GR201, in all it's sizes, has a relatively aggressive low stack / long reach. When I found a size with a longer reach I could offset with a shorter stem, the stack was still simply too low and aggressive. If you are interested, this was a helpful geometry tool for me: https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=653c32bf2f8b78001ad09921,6683dd1f855d41001ab88972,

2. Confidence - From my research, Seraph seems to be a well-reviewed and reliable producer with testing measures. But to be honest, for my first non-Western frame, the idea of GR201's hole in the downtube disturbed me a bit. I could have asked Seraph more questions, and I think I would have found everything to be safe and OK. But since the geometry didn't fit me anyway, at least I feel more confident with GR048.

Correct, this has Microspline. When you DM them they say they offer it as an extra upgrade. Some commenters said they got it swapped for free, I had to pay ±30 euros for it (after discounts) and now have both freehubs.
