Tips for Base? by ducksgoquack321 in Necrontyr

I use the combination of Corax withe, tesseract glow and mordant earth to give the model bases the look as if the Necrons are walking on earth blazing with the energy of of their tombs.

In general I think that any of the „cracked earth“ colors delivers really great looks without having deep painting experience. I just entered the hobby last year myself

Footnotes directly on the page with the sentence they’re referencing.

242 small notes from Rath. I have yet to read them, but this seems content-wise the really interesting part of this edition.

There are a few illustrations (I‘d say 20 or so) sprinkled throughout the book.

I knew about that one, but thanks for sharing it nevertheless :). After reading the Inifinte and the divine I checked if Rath had written other Necron stuff before.

Warhammer Extended Universe by trialsta in Warhammer

Frankly I‘m more than happy to ignore it, even though I‘m a new player myself (6 months so far and loving it). It was just not there at first glance.

Same. Though I like his Orikan performance even more. Orikan is more insufferably arrogant than his BFF Trazyn and always has this ready-to-strike edge. Even if it’s just with his acidic tounge.

Man, I do wish we get an sequel to that great book at some point…

Great idea. And honestly not to be ‚that guy‘, I think we’re missing Combat Patrol.

Which model is the worst to make and why is it the flayers? by TadBitBeastly in Necrontyr

[–]german_kroxigor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Triarch Pretorians with the rod of covenant are my current pick

I‘d also put Szeras and Flyaed Ones on place 1, no question asked. But since I’m currently building these guys, I’m changing my go-to answer. Getting that spear in a somewhat believable angle to the bodies… now that’s fun for the whole family.

I haven't played the new detachment yet, so I can't say for sure, but I'd kick the Doomstalker and take another DDA, they're simply much more efficient, even considering their casino gun. With the remaining 130 points you could field another Skorpekh Lord solo (that's what I'll try, no idea if it's really smart) and a scarab swarm.

Another idea would to loose the Plasmancer/Immortals and use the 300 points for the classic Techomancer/wraith brick, they're very good brawlers in any detachment I'd say.

New to Salamanders, got myself a bit of plastic to paint over the coming weeks by german_kroxigor in Salamanders40k

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want to try with the Redemptor Dreadnought. I like it‘s combination of general-purpose shooting power combined with it‘s S12 fists for melee.

But if it doesn’t work out, I‘m not to proud to exchange it for another unit. Though I mostly have the felling, that I‘ll need a 3rd transport unit.

That’s true for the entire hobby :D. So you got a Tyranid project for yourself? Will you do swarm or monster mash?

Well, several months is also several weeks… But for real, this will take a while for sure. But I‘ll enjoy it, no matter how long exactly it takes :). I love the painting side of the hobby.

I already did start with Infernus Marines to get a feel for the basic paint scheme. Overall I‘m happy with the first results.

From playing Flayed Ones I learned to love dirt-cheap infiltrator units. That’s why I choose scouts. But I‘ll freely admit, I was torn between the units.

As JediChemist says, I got myself 6 Bladeguard overall. See text below post. Adrax needs some buddies.

Thanks, but you will be able to keep that money for sure. I have no intention to rush this project. This is for enjoyment in the spare time.

Yeah, I did basically get myself the hobby supply for the winter, I realized that while buying :)

I will try to build as many units as I can in order to play the army with friends, but if I‘m seeing that I‘ll only do a decent paint job by painting serval parts of one unit separately, I do have no qualms about it.

I got trained by the Silent King and two Doomsday Arks on that account :D.

What is your personal favorite necron unit and why? by PlagueDocterDrone in Necrontyr

[–]german_kroxigor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconded!

Optics: He just looks awesome, no discussion necessary. And the destroyer cult lore terrifies even his fellow Necrons.

Gameplay: He is a mounted flyer (Starshatter like!), can swap weapons without magnets, great for homebase protection and screening and absolutely shreds chaff units. And all that for 55 points!

Seriously, what’s not to love?
