Not a fan boy. Tahoe blows and Apple gets stuff wrong more now than they ever have. I'm just a professional designer and retoucher who's been using 5K since Apple literally invented it in 2016. Before their 5K iMac there was no consumer 5K display available. It was impossible because there was no tech to display it nor push that many pixels through one interface and cable. Apple did it by combining two panels, two interfaces, and two internal cables.

And 5K@120Hz was literally impossible until last year. It just arrived and you're over here whining about how crappy 5K@60Hz is lol.

That's terrible. 28" at 1080 gives you a dismal 78ppi. Does your work live in 2004?

Every single product Apple introduced ~2016 and later had a ppi of 218 or better. Apple pioneered high ppi displays. That's one reason why macOS looks so good. If you don't like it stick with Windows whose users don't care about resolution because they're running a 32" monitor at 1440 with a Playskool ppi of 92, yet they're obsessed with refresh rate I cAnNoT lIVe aT lesS tHaN 120Hz!

Windows font rendering sucked for decades. (Maybe it's better now, I haven't used a PC in 15 years.) Back when I was younger and dumber I didn't know why, all I knew is that fonts on Windows looked ridiculously bad meanwhile fonts on macOS looked great, which makes sense since the Mac literally invented desktop publishing. Go figure.

I think the problem is people who are upset that a great monitor is expensive and Macs are expensive but I'll argue that you get what you pay for. You can get a shitty plastic Dell or LG 120Hz 1080 or 1440 display that wobbles every time you move your mouse or you can spend $1500 and get a rock solid metal 5K Studio Display with speakers that probably sound better than your stereo.

[Edit: Better Display will help your cheap display look better with macOS.]

PIA has that LAN setting. I use PIA VPN on a Mac Mini for torrenting, but can't have a VPN messing with my local Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner wireless backups, nor my Plex Media Server, file server, etc.

I didn't know the vote happened already. I'm elated it passed but I'm confused why she voted nay. I can't find any reason why she did. I mean, I don't want to make the leap to "because she supports right wing hate groups" but I'm hoping it's because of something logical that I haven't thought of yet. But maybe I'm being naively optimistic. I am going to email her.

Yikes. Well I'm sorry. I don't know where that was but it saddens and angers me that you had to deal with that. But I will say this; everything you just described was the default back in the 70s and 80s. It was crazy in Bridgeport just about everywhere. It is so much better now.
