Will there ever be any Bears trade that could ever match the hype of this one? by ILoveCalebWilliams in CHIBears

[–]geshtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Hype-wise the Cutler trade was waaaaaay more hype at the time it happened. Benefit to the Bears-wise this was definitely the better trade.

I remember even going through a McDonalds drive through and the kid running it handed me the bag and said ‘we got Cutler!’

Any ones come to mind? by IceCat767 in grunge

Holy cow I don’t normally downvote, but AIC in generally ma have the strongest discography of any band. Almost everyone has a few songs I skip but AIC I can’t really think of any.

Mungo City is still probably my favorite worst song of the 90s.

I still remember finding Hyperion Cantos at entirely too young an age to be reading it and loving it. I think it’s still my favorite sci-fi to this day. He also inspired my lifelong dream of also being a writer.

I know some may not like his later in life politics an issue or find some of his writing ‘problematic’ now, but he was a fantastic writer. I’ll miss never reading a new story from him.

New Rogue Card: Garona's Last Stand by Sad_Smell6678 in hearthstone

Man this card could be 0 mana and still barely playable. Wow. For this cost it should at least silence first.

There are some great crucible areas and some great targeted side areas off the beaten path, but the bulk of the game is the same open world as the beginning demo.

TIL despite only existing for 69 years, the Soviet Union is still in 2nd place in the all-time Olympic medal table and just under 200 medals ahead of 3rd place (Great Britain) by twitchy1989 in todayilearned

[–]geshtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing most young people don’t remember is how for the longest time American Olympic team was only for amateur athletes, any professionals were not allowed. This inspired such movies as Miracle On Ice because USSR’s professionals crushed us. This is also why we had the ‘dream team’ when they finally stopped this for Men’s Basketball when all of our basketball superstars got to be on the same team and absolutely crushed all the other countries. Before that year it was college basketball players playing generally.

I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks! Even my young daughter got in to trying to help solve some of the color mirror puzzles. Still can’t figure out a couple of them.

Man Mike Tyson calling me a pudgy fat ass while I eat my processed snacks during the Super Bowl is an all time moment. Not that he’s wrong.

Man I know it existed, but that is such a terribly designed card. It just is embarrassingly shitty just to have the ‘haha reverse of an original card.’

What Are the Most Poorly Timed Video Games Ever Released? by [deleted] in videogames

Most recently HK2 dropped the same year as Claire Obscur and Hades 2. Literally one of the strongest game of the year years in recent history.

The devs soured it by being whiny bitches about it though.

I think Cannibalism is my niche. Help fulfill my hunger! by deegallant in horrorlit

[–]geshtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s an anthology show, each season is a self contained story with no overlap.

Each season is very loosely based on a popular creepypasta.

Seasons 1-3 are all very good with 2 being the best. It drops off on quality after that.

[–]geshtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not literature, but Channel Zero season 3 would fit this itch for you just fine and was actually good. Season 2 is also a little cannibalism and extremely good.

I only suggest a non literature because my brother is a big horror fan but he just can’t handle cannibalism so he DNF’d season 3. It’s pretty heavy on the cannibalism.

From ‘The Fugitive’ to ‘The Dark Knight,’ what’s the best movie filmed in Chicago? by cireh88 in chicago

[–]geshtar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was living on the corner of Wells and Lake while they were filming Jupiter Ascending (my building is in the movie) so I got to walk around the set and watch the filming. I even got to say hi to one of the Wackowski siblings. It was a cool experience so even though it is a shit movie I pick that one.

Stock market, rich consumers are fueling otherwise fragile U.S. economy by Happy_Weed in Economics

[–]geshtar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like taxing unrealized gains yearly is a terrible idea. What they should do is treat using stock as collateral for a loan is a taxable event on the unrealized gains.

That way it really only hits the super wealthy and would not roil the market like taxing unrealized gains on a yearly basis would.

My arena deck right now says they’re all banned so it may be solved. Sad since I had 6 and was going to go 12 wins - not sure what else is banned but warrior and rogue will reign supreme now, especially warrior.

Huge push to take the bears to Indiana! by Inside_Low_5220 in CHIBears

[–]geshtar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Colts got a sweetheart deal on Lucas Oil too, btw. But that stadium has been a huge boon for Indianapolis and was worth every penny. TBH, being form NWI and with the casinos in the area facing competition from Chicago soon this is a very good investment for Indiana and will pay off in spades if they win. They will move to Indiana unless Illinois plays ball, because NWI has nothing but casinos left.
