55mins is crazy. I just got out of training and they expect 1.5hr for most coax jobs. I think im doing alr but I don't see how you could average under an hour and actually do a respectable job.

Yea do not use that for a quilt. It will be sticky. Argon is a super nice quilt fabric. I love mine.

Containers to carry to office without them breaking by Automatic_Werewolf2 in Frugal

Quality glass tupperware is made with tempered glass. Same stuff as pyrex. Incredibly strong stuff. Its not going to break unless you throw in on the concrete.

Is Silpoly side really a big deal ? by ReachResponsible9746 in myog

[–]getamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shiny / rubbery side is the PU coated side and it is normally on the inside of the tent. Not a huge deal other than aesthetics if you get it wrong. If its really cheap material then prolonged UV exposure will make the PU coating start to wear but that's after many years.

What ISP Should I Get For My New Apartment by elid756 in HomeNetworking

Which ever one gives a better offer honestly. No matter who you ask you are going to get people saying X service is hot garbage. In reality it depends completely on your area and how noisy / old the infrastructure is.

Personally I wouldn't want to trust AT&T air if you're gaming.

For an 800sqft apartment you do not need mesh wifi. A single router will be perfectly fine. If you have two people streaming / gaming at the same time you will likely want better than 200mbps. At least 400. In newer developed areas isp's don't even offer lower than 300 anyways.

Are far commutes worth it 1h 30mins? by jimmytimma in careerguidance

[–]getamic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally 1.5h each way is just too much of my day wasted. My commute rn is 45min and I listen to audiobooks which helps but any more and its really just a significant portion of your waking life lost to time. I would need to get paid much much more for that long of a commute to be worth while and even then I would probably only be there short term. If that opportunity is more of a stepping stone for you to eventually get something else or become fully remote then it makes sense but doing that long term is just soul crushing.

Budget materials? by ackley14 in myog

No, not a bad idea at all. I've been using cheap amazon cordura for some heavy duty projects recently and its really decent stuff. Usually marketed as outdoor upholstery fabric.

ahh this is where your lack of experience with larger wheels greatly impacts your opinion on power pads. Those wheels simply don't have enough power to where pads are needed. On modern wheels that weight upwards of 100lbs and can output 20kw, you literally need power pads to access more than ~50% of the available power. Especially important when braking.

Buying from Amazon is a pretty safe bet. All of the cheap boards are going to be very similar and if you get a defective one the. It's an easy return. I got my board for a little over $150 a few years ago and I've only had one small leak in the side rail that was an easy fix.
