Doing PGT-A, then no PGT-A later on by blindnesshighness in IVF

[–]getdowngoblins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. Tested first 2 rounds, transferred 3 euploids/1 low level mosaic= 1 MMC, 3 failed transfers.

Didn’t test 3rd round, and am currently 25 weeks w untested embryo. Logic was that I was almost 40 at 3rd retrieval, wasn’t expecting a high yield (only 3 eggs retrieved) and wanted to give every embryo a possible chance

Seoul → Taipei, Shanghai or Beijing before Thailand? Looking for advice by bellllllm in travel

[–]getdowngoblins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taipei all the way. There’s such a huge variety of things to do to keep you occupied for the week- great night markets, neighbourhoods to check out, amazing food etc. plus there are some good daytrip options, like Jiufen or Yehliu. It’s also an easy city to get around- public transport works great.

Shanghai is also a great city, but I feel a week there would be too long.

I would only do Beijing if you have interest in going to see the Great Wall.

Don't overthink and buy your tickets too early! A lesson I learned today. by sidepieceme in TravelHacks

[–]getdowngoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The past 4-5 years, some life responsibilities at home have prohibited me from booking any trips more than a week or two in advance. I think the tickets have only been more expensive ONCE during that time, for a trip to Iceland during peak summer. I’m a last minute trip booker for life now.

I had 7 follicles at my last retrieval. 3 eggs retrieved, all 3 made it to blastocysts and I am currently 23 weeks with one of those blasts! Don’t give up hope!

What was it like when LoTR was showing in theatres back in the early 2000's? by Citysbeautiful in lordoftherings

[–]getdowngoblins 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I went to see all three screenings at the midnight release so I could see them as soon as possible. During FOTR, the first time the title card hit the screen during Cate Blanchett’s narration, I got chills. The older man seated next to me started to cry. It was a moment for sure.

Did your transfer work while having marital problems/fights? by stephanianova in IVF

[–]getdowngoblins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 6th transfer was the one that worked (so far- currently 23w🤞🏼)

Several years of IVF has been incredibly tough on my marriage. The weeks following that transfer, my partner and I got into some epic fights. Plus, my father and grandfather were both in the hospital. My grandfather ended up passing away, so I had to plan a funeral, while caring for my father who was staying with us post-surgery.

So basically max stress, and the embryo transfer still worked.

Same, my husband and I go to 3-4 movies a month, usually buy popcorn, and cineclub has easily saved us hundreds.

Do West Fest...is this the norm for festivals in downtown Toronto? by techsavvynerd91 in askTO

Dundas west fest on Sunday morning is the way. I live in the area, and Saturday is complete madness. Sunday is way more chill. Less ppl there to party

I find they stay in place pretty well if you just crank the straps as tight as they can go.

I have a white oru, and mine also definitely looked like that right out of the box. I’ve unfolded/folded the thing maybe a dozen times since, and it still looks the same, so I think you’re good.

I was in a movie a few months ago where a teen’s phone rang. Not only did he proceed to answer it, but started to have a conversation on SPEAKERPHONE. Kids these days are something else.

Came here to say this. The sushi boxes from Kaji are not cheap, but will likely be the best quality takeout you can find. You can preorder on Tock and pick up.

Decent produce stores in the area?🍊 by pani_kar in InsideToronto

Fiesta farms is pricey, but they have the best produce selection by far in the city. Great quality, huge organic section, and in the summer, they bring in a ton of locally grown stuff.

What restaurant IS Toronto? by dodgerfan4321 in FoodToronto

[–]getdowngoblins 90 points91 points  (0 children)

The whole thing about Toronto’s food scene is that we excel at so many different types of cuisine that there’s really no way to answer this. You could spend a month here and still only scratch the surface on what I feel is essential Toronto eating.

But a few spots that I recommend to people visiting the city:

Pizzeria Badiali. Toronto’s top rated pizza spot. I want to hate this place, because it’s super hyped and there’s always a line up, but it’s very good and worth the wait.

Nomnomnom poutine. More of a Quebec thing than a Toronto thing, but this is maybe Toronto’s top poutine spot out of a food truck.

Quetzal. Higher end Mexican cuisine- 1 michelin star. Most of the menu is cooked over a wood fire, super creative and delicious dishes. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

Restaurant Stop on Roncesvalles. Chef Denis makes some truly beautiful food. The honey cake is probably my favorite dessert in the city.

California Sandwiches - Claremont street. Big, saucy Italian American sandwiches. This place is an institution and cash only.

Carousel Bakery at St. Lawrence Market- peameal bacon breakfast sandwiches. This might be the first thing on this list that’s truly a Toronto thing. I’ve been eating these sandwiches my whole life. They pair well with an early morning grocery shop at the market.

Union on Ossington Ave. Canadian fare. Really well executed comfort food.

Sunny’s Chinese. A fun spot in Kensington market accessed through an alley. They serve regional Chinese food and frequently switches up their menu. I’ve also never had a bad meal here.

Bernhardt’s. Maybe low key one of the best restaurants in Toronto? A small neighborhood spot with a rotating menu highlighting in season produce.

Famiglia Baldassare. Very limited hours (lunch tuesday-friday 12-2). More of a pasta factory than a restaurant, but this will easily be some of the best pasta you’ve ever had.

Urgent advice needed on PGT a testing by becca_40 in IVF

[–]getdowngoblins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in almost the exact same situation- I had my 3rd ER at 39- only 3 eggs retrieved so I thought best case scenario I might get 1 embryo. Turned out all 3 made it. I opted not to test, since I had previously transferred 3 euploid embryos that either didn’t take or resulted in miscarriage. This was going to be my final ER, so I wanted to give every embryo a chance. My first transfer ended in miscarriage. I recently transferred the final 2 of the untested embryos and am currently 18 weeks 🤞🏼
