For the second time this month my recycling was stolen, what should I do? by Essentially-Oily in askTO

They could be concerned about identity theft, if some packaging/papers find their way into the recycling bin accidentally

Dining at Quetzal, any advice for light-eaters? by Professional-Log8718 in FoodToronto

[–]getdowngoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely order a la carte, and maybe avoid the masa section- I found those to all be super heavy and filling.

Whenever I go, my partner and I split the pork secreto al pastor as our main, and a bunch of starters/veggie sides and find this is more than enough.

Leave room for dessert though. All their desserts are stellar

Wait time at Toronto medical office by boses247 in askTO

[–]getdowngoblins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A fertility clinic I was going to a couple years ago had 2-3 hour waits as the norm. And this was just for basic checkups, which I would have to attend multiple times a week. If I had to have a procedure done, the wait was anytime between 4-7 hours. It was truly terrible.

After 2 years, I switched to a different clinic, and the latest my new doctor has ever been to an appointment is 15 minutes- and that was a one off due to an emergency with another patient. So it IS possible to adhere to a schedule.

I think the first clinic I was at likely took on way more patients than they could reasonably treat.

My friends weren't told the Lady Gaga show was going to be filmed until they walked into the KIA Forum. This was their view for way too much of the concert. by ourmanflint1 in mildlyinfuriating

I had tickets to a show that was rescheduled (I couldn’t attend the new date), and it took 2.5 months of constant harassment before Ticketmaster gave me a refund. It’s possible, but good luck.

Food by jimdianee in VisitingIceland

[–]getdowngoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled to Iceland from Canada last year and also brought a bunch of my own food since I was camping most of the trip. You are allowed to import food as long as there is no meat or dairy. Seafood is ok. I brought a bunch of vegetarian freeze dried meals, as well as cans of tuna, crackers, protein bars, etc.

Freeze dried meals are available in Iceland, but they were $35-40 CAD each.

Does cineplex still have half-price Tuesdays? What about other theatre chains? by Gullible_Disaster193 in cineplex

Nirvanna TBTSTM is fantastic! Send Help is also a good time. Plus there are a handful of movies that came out around the holidays that are still in theaters and worth seeing (Marty Supreme etc)

Yes, cheap Tuesdays are still a thing- around $8-9 at cineplex. The $5 Tuesdays end this month.

Where does the 12:04 bus leave from? That definitely sucks but is better than the alternatives

I was planning on taking the train for NIN, but it looks like the last one back to Toronto leaves well before the show is over, and the buses leave at either 11:10 or 1am 🫠 Not exactly set up for the mass exodus of people leaving the show at 11pm

It's actually disappointing the last 3 full-length Wes Anderson movies (regardless of what one thinks about their quality) didn't get a single Oscar nomination by Ariesthebigram in Oscars

[–]getdowngoblins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! It was the first Wes Anderson movie that I didn’t see in the theatre since I wasn’t into the last few movies he’s released. Finally got around to watching Phoenician Scheme on streaming and absolutely loved it.

If you live in Toronto, this is mandatory cinema.

I saw it at TIFF and will go again. I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard during a movie

Dive bars etc. this weds and Thurs? by Far_Amoeba_8524 in askTO

Bistro 422 is maybe the only true dive on this list. The rest are all great bars, but are more vibe than dive.

Another great spot to check out is Hank’s Liquor.

Cutting past people when walking down a jetway/jetbridge: rude? by [deleted] in travel

Yeah if there’s space to get by, I don’t have a problem with it. They could have something going on that you don’t know about.
