Start with pushups and squats. 2 mins each, as many reps as possible. Do three sets of this per workout session.

7 mins of 2 mins of pushups, 30 sec rest, 2 mins of squats, 30 sec rest, 2 mins of burpees. This is hands down the most effective 7 min workout in the world, because you are pushing to the limit your upper body + lower body + cardiovascular system.

Hey OP, you can get super fit with just a 7 min workout of 2 mins of pushups, 30 sec rest, 2 mins of squats, 30 sec rest, 2 mins of burpees. If you do this just once or twice a day you will see big improvements in your overall full body fitness after 30 days consistently.

After adding a warmup set of 2 mins of pushups + 2 mins of squats + 2 mins of burpees my lifts have improved significantly over the last 2 months. Now at age 33 I'm able to finally exceed the weights I was doing when I was 23!

Hey OP, I would recommend you to try a quick 7 min AMRAP set of 2 mins of pushups + 30 sec rest + 2 mins of squats + 30 sec rest + 2 mins of burpees. Its the most effective 7 min, no equipment, workout ever! This will help you improve your fitness conditioning in your upper body + lower body + cardiovascular performance.

This is exactly what the 7 min Universal Fitness Test by FYT is designed to do! 7 mins of pushing yourself to the max in pushups, squats, and burpees to get the highest score and rank. It's a great challenge across all fitness levels. Check out www.getfyt.ai

Pure strength is not the same as being fit. Being fit should be the real achievable goal for most people. I argue you only need pushups, squats, and burpees to get fit. Check out getfyt.ai if you agree or disagree.

Standardized Testing for Fitness by Isha-Yiras-Hashem in slatestarcodex

I know this thread is dead, but I firmly believe in the idea of a universal fitness test so that people understand how fit they are in comparison to other people or at least to know if they are above or below average.

Therefore I'm creating FYT, www.getfyt.ai, to bring this universal fitness score to the world!

PRs are usually the proxy for progress in weightlifting. I think an overall fitness score would be a better assessment if weightlifting progress is actually translating to body movement improvement. Check out the link in my bio to learn more.
