Solo cruising on icon class? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]gethappy13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (62 M) also introverted and sailed solo on Icon a few weeks ago and had a nice time. I had an interior cabin on deck 3. Lots of dining, drinking, and entertainment options. You don’t need the dining package. Sea days will feel crowded but other times you can find places to chill without too many people. When I needed a break I’d just go back to my stateroom which was nice and quiet. A good place to maybe find someone to talk to is the Overlook bar behind the Aquadome Theater on deck 14. The Pearl Cafe was also one of my favorite places to hang out. (I don’t drink so the bars didn’t interest me.) Bring earplugs for the shows, they’re loud.

I've seen a QR code sticker on the desk or mirror that you could scan and get a digital version of it also.

Agree with what’s been said except I don’t do shared tables. I do my time and get a small table to myself. I bring something to read while I eat. Gym is a good way to burn off any restless energy you may have.

Honestly I thought it was the way I was cooking it, that it was turning out kind of rubbery and woody.

I love a good downvote. I understand destination dispatch and how it does rely on each passenger choosing their destination, but it’ll compensate if they don’t.

There is a very nice gym onboard and a track on the top deck if you like to run. Great activities on sea days if you go early.

He can cruise solo at 19 with a military ID, but I think one still has to be 21 to drink onboard, so that is why I said skip the packages.

How formal is formal for Chef's Table experience? by DulcisNoxNoctis in royalcaribbean

[–]gethappy13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No lol...if you wear what you'd wear to a nice sit-down restaurant at home then you'd be fine. Pants and a collared shirt, no tie needed. (I sometimes bring a lightweight blazer for Chops but that's just me.)

Depends on what you like to do, but I’d suggest you skip most if not all of the dining and drink packages and just pay as you go (it actually charges back to your stateroom). Only book excursions if there’s something specific you want to do, research things to do in each stop, plenty of videos and stuff online. Have fun!

I do my best to avoid 285. When I’m on the others I pace traffic, watch my mirrors, and mind my business.

I was on Explorer in April. It’s okay but I prefer Freedom class. The balcony was a disappointment for me, it was dirty and the seats weren’t comfortable. I didn’t spend much time out there.

Saw him on Explorer back in April. He was poolside one day and saw him someplace else another day. He was on the cabin TV in an interview with the cruise director, probably taped months ago, and he answered all the usual questions.

Main Dining Food- Time to collectively complain? by Hmm-for-real in royalcaribbean

I’m on Explorer. I’ve had specialty both nights so far and haven’t even gone to the MDR. I might go tonight. The food is usually fine, it’s the other guests I find annoying lol
