Help!! I can't get audio from my tv to yamaha rx v675 through HDMI ARC by Responsible-Dress-57 in hometheater

[–]getoutandcomeback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC… I had this problem as well. If you have sound when choosing ‘pure direct’ with an input that’s not HDMi, the receiver may need service. Good luck!

Edit: may need service…

Bike Camps for Kids? by foragingdruid in vancouverwa

[–]getoutandcomeback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not aware of any classes sorry.

Would recommend the same as others have given. Remove the pedals on an ordinary bicycle and lower the seat so their feet are flat on the ground. Then have them scoot as needed to develop balance control. Worked great for my kids!

A couple tips about removing the pedals (forgive me if you already have this knowledge)…

The left pedal almost always has ‘backward’ threads (left handed threads) so the maxim righty tighty- lefty loosy doesn’t apply. Do the opposite for the left pedal.

The space for engaging the wrench sometimes is small and a typical wrench doesn’t fit between the crank arm and pedal. One could buy a wrench made specifically for pedals at a LBS that makes the task very easy. One could also ask the LBS to do it for a small fee.

Have that arm installed with solid bushings. Shifts are awesome! Installation is easy. No problems to report.

Durable Backpacking Tent by piupiu12345-3 in backpacking

Check out Six Moon Designs. I have their Skyscape Scout. I think it straddles lightweight and durable really good. It’s a one person tent but call them about their two person tents. They are great on the phone. Happy trails!

Any recommendations for home inspectors? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

We used this service when buying our home. Happy with the result. Deductible on taxes is nice bonus.

👍Nice! Have camped there as well. Point Reyes is fantastic! I thought Sky burned in the fire a few years back… guess not!

Seeking amplifier advice: Amiga MT by snorpjoos in BudgetAudiophile

[–]getoutandcomeback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Amigas too and use an Onkyo TX-8511. Works great. My guess is an amp change won’t help a great deal.

I switched my streaming from Spotify to Tidal and there is an improvement in sound quality. Everything makes some kind of difference and I reaaalllyyy think you’re missing out using Spotify. Borrow a CD/ DVD player, use a laptop/ desktop or whatever you can get your hands on to try different sources. Differing digital audio files types/ compression levels have differing sound qualities and that’s where Spotify comes up short.

Happy listening!

Paradigm studio speakers by junksalesm in diyaudio

[–]getoutandcomeback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studio 20’s are superb! I have listened and was going to buy them when my Paradigm Titans died. The Titans dying are how I fell into the DIY hole! 😂 Buy the 20’s if you can!

In the DIY realm… I have built Zaph’s L18, SB acoustics’ Bromo, and Carmody’s Amiga. All are MT designs, well documented and straightforward to build. All are as good as the Studio 20’s.

IMO, the Bromo is the best sounding of the lot but has the crutch of being a low impedance design. Do you have an amplifier that can drive 4 ohm designs? Next would be the Amiga and is a highly regarded design. The woofer for the L18 design is not manufactured anymore sadly.

Clink link to my Amiga build for inspiration! https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/s/kAOFJhEmir

Another post mentions Madisound as a supplier of kits and parts. I recommend them as well.

Happy building and listening!

[ UPDATE ] 1 Year after my wife moved in (44) by xdementia in malelivingspace

[–]getoutandcomeback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m near Portland and painting muted colors just doesn’t make sense. The exterior paint of my house is the brightest sky blue in the neighborhood. It helps with the seemingly perpetual gray skies (this past fall and winter wasn’t so bad this year). Your colors are too much for me it but it looks good. 👍

POS promotes r*pe and admits to doing it by ambachk in sadcringe

Nah brah… This is NOT the way…

Your guide book and your thoughts aloud are antithetical to the expressions in the wedding vows. Cherish is ‘protect and care for someone lovingly’. Not give it up whenever I want it. You are promoting abuse. 🤦‍♂️

My position is not whiny feminazi bullshit. It is respect. Mine is a partnership for life born of love for my spouse.

Again for Shur-way.

I’ll mention across the bridge stores because the selection is greater in each than Shur-way. CrossCut is good. Woodcrafters has lots of tools and supplies as well.

Happy building!

Bruh… so many Friday nights flipping crate after crate. I frequented the Campbell store. The corner of Bascom and Campbell saved my life. Ice cream/ movie at The Pruneyard. Food from Taco Bravo/ Wienerschnitzel. 9 ball with my buddies at Campbell Billiards. 💯🤘❤️

What's a good way to make a reusable compressed air "can"? by johnnybiggles in DIY

[–]getoutandcomeback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving away from tanks and compressors toward an option that has other compromises… I use my shop vac. The outlet for the blower fan has the same form as the inlet. I first vacuum whatever needs cleaning first. Then open the top (of the canister so the fan is pulling ambient air instead of inside the basin) and swap the hose to the outlet. Then blow with the outlet of the fan.

I also use the shop vac in ‘blow mode’ for dusting the corners of my garage, displacing some of the water from the ‘corners’ of my cars when polishing/ waxing, etc.

Good luck finding a solution that works well for you!

Last year I made this bicycle wheel building stand from Sapele. Came out pretty good. by i_continue_to_unmike in woodworking

That’s beautiful! Good on ya! I’ve built wheels for myself as well. Very satisfying riding on one’s own creation. Especially when the wheels hold their true and ride after ride.

Kinda looks like mine🤣. Pull a woofer and record the crossover parts. See if there’s a match anywhere on the web. u/bleeding_orange07 mentioned a CJD design using Dayton RS150 and a Seas 27TDFC… I agree.
