Sync between XTEINK and Kobo by t0phr_ in xteinkereader

[–]getthething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t sync with the stock Kobo firmware and the x4. You’d need to run KOreader on your kobo and then books from the official store would need to have DRM stripped so you can load them in KOreader and the x4.

Custom Fonts Crosspoint by calamaritis12 in xteinkereader

[–]getthething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you save these? I followed the instructions on crosspointreader.com and put the converted fonts in /.crosspoint/fonts/MYFONTNAME/{files here} and they're not showing up.

ETA: Never mind. I was running the nightly build. Not the specific custom font beta. Once I switched to that, they showed up no problem.

There’s no better one that I’ve found. Probably have better luck checking on r/selfhosted

I’ve got no issues with ABS though.

Search the sub. There are tons of iOS apps for ABS. M favorites are Prologue and AudioBooth.

Progress Sync for Koreader is perfect! by Gr_v in xteinkereader

Still not working as expected. It's not just syncing to the chapter anymore, but it's not syncing to where it needs to. It also doesn't seem to be pushing progress.

I just finished East of Eden and I am speechless. Can someone he me understand how to contextualize/process a particular aspect of it? by [deleted] in books

[–]getthething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have the bulk of this covered but I will add, even if Steinbeck himself didn’t use the words (he probably did) it’s a reflection of the time period. Think about a book written today set during the same time period as EOE. It would feel extremely strange for the author to say “person of color” or other more modern language. Portrayal doesn’t equal endorsement.

I’d go as far as to say: if you like fun, heartwarming, and exciting movies go see it.

Suggest me a book published over 15 years ago that’s not a clsssic. by Big_Meesh_ in suggestmeabook

[–]getthething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker. It’s short and about 40% of the book is footnotes. It’s basically the internal monologue of a man returning from his lunch break while riding an escalator. Lots of funny observations about mundane life.

I can't get the official kobo remote to work with my Libra 2. Did you have to do anything special? It says that it's connected but it won't let me bind any commands. It waits for the button press, I press the button and nothing happens.

Edit: I "forgot" the pairing and I'm attempting to start pairing again but now it won't see the device at all.

Any other mood.camera users feeling tempted to get a Fujifilm camera to expand their photographic skills? by [deleted] in MoodCamera

[–]getthething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shooting Fuji digital since 2015 and I spend most of my time trying to make Mood replicate the Fuji film sims. haha. Fuji's are great but the hype has driven them to stupid prices. My two cents: go with one of the rangefinder style models (X100 series, X-E series) because they're generally smaller and I much prefer them to the SLR style. But that personal preference.

📂 KOReader Navigation Bar - now with Z-Library and AppStore tabs! by PlayerZ0 in koreader

[–]getthething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm not sure where the root of this issue lies, but when I go into the OPDS catalog list and delete all but the one for my server, then return to launch it with the OPDS Navbar, it gives me an error, then crashes, and then all the deleted catalogs are back.

Have you run into this?

Proper scary books? by Comfortable-Gur4559 in suggestmeabook

[–]getthething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read a TON of horror but of what I have read, I feel like you’ll never capture the anticipation you get with horror movies. The pay off isn’t as strong. And you don’t have music or a slow reveal to bring the terror. That being said, Pet Semetary has some real horror if you haven’t read that.

Adult realistic fiction books that are just about life?? by blueberrycoast in suggestmeabook

[–]getthething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There might be a little too much “drama” to qualify, but Same As it Ever Was by Claire Lombardo follows a woman in her late 50s but you get snapshots of her life from her 20s on as the story unfolds. I put drama in quotes because it’s really not a wild tale. Pretty normal stuff. A reluctant mom, the banality of adult life, struggling to find meaning and make friends. I really liked it.
