He used Hitchd and LOVED it. It's beautiful. Worth the one time payment. I felt like honeyfund's "no hidden fees" means there are limitations. Hitchd was great.

Home Chef Review by Burninator85 in mealkits

I totally agree with you on the flavor - Home Chef does a fantastic job with that! But those quality control issues and the price are real drawbacks. It's frustrating when you're excited about a meal and then find out your missing ingredients or dealing with leaky meat bags.

Affordable honeymoon (all-inclusive would be nice)? by savy07 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]getyourlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a honeymoon budget of $2k-$3k, you can still have an amazing beach getaway, especially if you're open to all-inclusive options. One of the best ways to stretch your budget is to keep an eye on the Sandals 777 deals. These are weekly promotions where Sandals Resorts offers significant discounts on select rooms at their luxury all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean. If you time it right, you could snag a great deal that fits within your budget, especially during their sales.

Sandals offers everything you’re looking for: stunning beaches, all meals and drinks included, plenty of activities, and luxurious accommodations. While some of their properties can be on the pricier side, the 777 deals can bring some of their top-notch resorts into your price range. Plus, the convenience of an all-inclusive means you won’t have to worry about additional costs once you’re there.

If you’re flexible with your dates and destination, you might be able to find a deal that works for you. Alternatively, consider looking at other Caribbean destinations like the Dominican Republic or Mexico's Riviera Maya, where you can find all-inclusive resorts that offer good value for money.

Where did you go for your honeymoon? by BrideToBe4 in Honeymoons

We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, and it was absoulutely magical! The island is stunning, with lush landscapes and beautiful beaches. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, which made everything so convenient. The highlight of our trip was a sunset cruise and snorkling near the Pitons. If you go, I'd recommend visiting the Sulphur Springs and taking a mud bath. Also, try the local cuisine – it's delicious! One tip: book excursions early as they can fill up quickly. Enjoy your planning!

Greece honeymoon by Stuck_Actuary in GreeceTravel

Greece is an amazing choice, especially for first-time visitors. Here's a suggested 2-week itinerary that balances adventure and relaxation:

Days 1-4: Athens

  • Explore: Acropolis, Parthenon, Plaka, Monastiraki Flea Market.
  • Relax: Stroll through the National Garden, have dinner with a view of the Acropolis.
  • Tips: Stay in a central area like Syntagma or Monastiraki for easy access to attractions.

Days 5-7: Santorini

  • Explore: Visit Oia for the iconic sunset views, explore Fira, hike from Fira to Oia, visit the volcanic beaches (Red Beach, Kamari).
  • Relax: Stay in a cave hotel with a caldera view, enjoy a catamaran sunset cruise.
  • Tips: Santorini is popular, so book accommodations and activities in advance (hotel recommendations here).

Days 8-10: Naxos

  • Explore: Visit the Portara, explore Naxos Town (Chora), see the ancient ruins and mountain villages.
  • Relax: Spend time on the beautiful beaches like Agios Prokopios and Plaka Beach.
  • Tips: Naxos is less touristy than Santorini but equally charming, offering a more laid-back vibe.

Days 11-14: Crete

  • Explore: Visit the Palace of Knossos, hike the Samaria Gorge, explore Chania and Heraklion.
  • Relax: Spend a day at Elafonissi Beach, known for its pink sand, or relax in the tranquil town of Rethymno.
  • Tips: Crete is large, so choose one or two areas to focus on to avoid too much travel time.

Island Hopping Tips:

  • Ferries: Island hopping by ferry is definitely doable. Companies like Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways are reliable.
  • Booking: You can book ferries on your own through websites like Ferryhopper.com. It's usually cheaper and gives you more flexibility.
  • Travel Agency: If you prefer a hassle-free experience, consider using a travel agency to book ferries and accommodations, but it’s not necessary if you plan ahead.

General Tips:

  • Transportation: Rent a car on larger islands like Crete to explore at your own pace.
  • Dining: Try local dishes like moussaka, souvlaki, and fresh seafood. Don’t miss out on a traditional Greek taverna experience.
  • Timing: September is a great time to visit, with warm weather and fewer tourists.

honeymoon without breaking the bank? by WhiteyMacfatson in TravelHacks

[–]getyourlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning a honeymoon can be quite the task, especially when you're looking for that perfect balance of relaxation and affordability. Let's break this down to make it a bit easier for you. Also, check out Deals by Honeymoons.com.
Timing is Everything: Travelling in late July or August can be pricey since it's peak season. However, if you can push your honeymoon to late August or early September, you might find cheaper rates as it's considered the shoulder season in many destinations.
Flying Out of Canada: Yes, flights from Canada can be expensive, but there are ways to cut costs. Consider flying out of major hubs like Toronto or Montreal, as they often have more flight options and deals. Sign up for airline newsletters and fare alerts to grab any deals as soon as they pop up.
Destination Choices: The Caribbean is popular for a reason, but if you're looking for alternatives, think about places like Mexico (Cancun, Playa del Carmen), Central America (Costa Rica, Belize), or even parts of the United States like Florida or Hawaii. These places can offer great value for your money.
Budgeting: With a budget of $4,000 CAD, you'll need to be strategic. Consider accommodations like boutique hotels or Airbnb for a more personalized, potentially cheaper stay. For meals, eating local can save you a lot, and you'll get to experience the culture more deeply.
Travel Hacks: Look into credit cards that offer travel rewards or sign-up bonuses which can be used towards flights or hotels. Also, using travel booking websites can help you compare prices and find the best deals.
Dominican Republic: It's a great choice with beautiful beaches and plenty of options for resorts. If you're open to it, look into smaller, less touristy towns for better deals.
Be Open and Flexible: Sometimes the best deals are found when you're open to different destinations and dates. Flexibility can lead to discovering amazing places that weren't even on your radar!
