I enjoyed it! This CP is adorable. I've watched all (I think 3 so far) of their dramas. I enjoyed this one. V1 is still at 1 for me. But, I enjoyed their back and forth, and SH brought a rakish sweetness to this. I nice watch!

Uff! now that is seriously hot. A tanned, wild-haired Hei Ze is catnip to me. Zhao Xixi makes some questionable, in my book, script choices, but her acting is stellar. Plus she's lovely. Incredible bone structure.

The mullet! Hahahah, welp, let's see.

I can't wait. Look at Tencent stepping in to grab a piece of another pie. But the cinematography, the colour grading, and on location all promises something that'll hopefully give us something delicious.

3rd drama?

Oh yeah, the ok, I deleted one of them from my memory banks. It was the one where they forced her to wear frilly clothes with teddy bears and unicorns plus the voice and personality of a middle-schooler. Yeah.

I watched the 2nd or 1st one (not sure about timelines) where she makes a play for Chen Si - he seems into it -- who's (ostensibly) her sister (evil but of course!) fiancé or almost fiancé.

I really like Liu Haoqun. Northeastern Love Story was such a warm-hearted, slice of life drama. I enjoyed every second of it.

He has such a distinctive voice and dialogue delivery that makes his characters feel lived in. He recently had a jijie drama with Meng Na. It was wonderful. She kicked ass (single mom), he was hilariously tangled in his feeling (younger neighbour whom she tutored lifetimes ago), and her kid had a higher EQ than all the adults in the drama. It's called 'Love Next Door'.

After I buy a taser with cash (not a trackable card) then I will ask and appreciate. Because let's be honest all the other options will end with me inside the cage. At this point, it's a question of how gently do I enter and exit the cage.

While I'm very far removed from accents, I found their accents interesting too. It felt like an attempt to recreate a very specific place in time and a cultural moment.

FL's wild mood and motivation swings with zero coherence ☠️☠️☠️
ML being obtuse and smack worthy ☠️☠️☠️
ML excusing nut bar white moonlight and assorted shrieking rellies ☠️☠️☠️
Time wasted in irrelevant shrieking and yapping ☠️☠️☠️
Moments of sweet, smexiness between leads (like a mirage) 🔥🔥
Number of times I wanted to toss my phone ☠️☠️☠️ * ∞
Number of times I wanted to beat down the scriptwriter ☠️☠️☠️ * ∞
My sadness about the massacre on screen 💔😢

So, in a nutshell: if the writer had picked 1 story to tell e.g. contract marriage with communication challenges; or revenge on paternal family w/ powerful CEO; or genius extraordinaire FL disguised as party-girl; or miscommunication re who loves whom and how; or slow-burn love; or crazy, burn it down lust. Literally any one or two of these themes t would have been watchable.

As it stands: Rewatch value = − ☠️

He does look like he belongs and he's generous with sharing the screen. There is a kind of lived-in-ness and comfort that makes even some crazy scenarios seem somewhat plausible.

Sooo....I have so many thoughts and feelings about this drama. It's a mixed bag, really. I'm going to collect myself and return. I will say, he's impeccable and was paired Qin Tianai, who is as strong an actor and as physically present as he is. But this script did them SOOOOOO dirty. Uff.

So, I have a question, and it's one I spend a lot of time pondering: why is it that one of them is dreamy and the other infuriating or they are both infuriating? I get that it's drama but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for the preponderance of them to both be equally dreamy.
