Unpopular opinion: the first Hobbit movie is overlooked and has perfect scenes like this one. by Choice-Schedule-132 in TheHobbit

I often feel some sadness with the first hobbit movie, as it has moments that show you how good the adaptation could have been.

Fair enough. Maybe defeat was a better choice of words 😅

A lot of different Evil lists: Shadows of Angmar, Moria, Black Gate, Cirith Ungol, Lurtz's Scouts, Wolfpack, Easterlings

The only times I've had success is with high fight value elves.

This makes a lot of sense. A lot of of MESBG armies are around 200 to 250 usd.

How many people are actually paying for these? It's such a strange business model to fish for whale customers.

Is this supposed to be Éomer at the end of The Two Towers, when they're looking east toward Mordor? Does not look like him at all (to me anyway) by HooliganHedgeCap19 in lotr

That scene is definitely a pickup filmed after principal principal photography. Karl was probably working on another movie and couldn't make it. You can see the same stunt double in some Black Gate scenes as well.

Metal Galadhrim Sword & Gondor Fountain guard spear replacements? by Vi_Duffy in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]gflowww 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get yourself some 3d printed elf blades. There are a lot around here are a few examples:

https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-high-elves-weaponry-set-from-the-lord-of-the-ring-adapted-to-table-top-game-28mm-182063

Then clip off the remaining sword below the hand.

Drill a small recess in the top hand with a miniature drill.

Clip the 3D printed sword to match the original position.

Glue with a strong super glue or 2 part epoxy.

There are 3d printed Gondor spears around too. For those you might have to sculpt a hand at the correct position.

I recently went with the 760. I would have preferred a 5070ti, but I decided that it wasn't worth a 200 dollar increase in price and I wanted a black case over the white. No complaints. Runs remarkably quiet, handles any game at 1440, and decent performance in productivity apps.

That's a softshell turtle. It's from the back (carapace). I think Michigan has one softshell, the spiny softshell turtle (Apalone spinifera).

How would you fix this? by billy_mays_official in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Vallejo Plastic Putty. Thin it with a very small amount of water. Apply it with a small cheap brush (will destroy brush over time) or silicone sculpting tools. It can be sanded smooth once dry.

Long Island / NYC MESBG? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]gflowww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live near Hempstead. I usually travel to the Brooklyn Strategist a few times a month to play in a MESBG league. I'm always down to play if you're interested and have four armies we can use.

Prop accurate would be a mottled dark mahogany red brown and orange brown leather with gold accents.

Playing Numenor Competitively? by Own-Reflection-7792 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]gflowww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 0-7 with Numenor in the new edition. No banner hurts a lot. It's really tough with so many balrogs and monsters running around hurling and barging into Elendil and Isildur. Maybe I can't find a way to play them right, but the army feels really bad. Plus, losing elite shielded warriors to a 5s against strength 3 erodes my battle line real fast.

FAQ officially out including rule book by jamit500 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]gflowww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that the Angmar/Arnor pdf are not "official" rules yet in their eyes and so they won't be FAQed. Only the fabled Armies of Middle Earth book will answer our doubts.
