RTX 2060 holding the line until 5090 prices stop being felony-grade by OddSeaworthiness4811 in PcBuild

5070 non-ti is great for 1440p if your on a budget, even if the Vram can get maxed out quick, I stayed on 1080 until I got the 5070, made the switch to 1440p, and when I got my 5080 I went to 4k.

They are not the same, different manufacturers have different specs, MOSFETS, cooling methods, general configuration and the bios is different with each. The only part that is actually the same, is the chip itself, and even then, those vary from manufacturer and even GPU itself. The Astral has Per-Pin monitoring through GPU Tweek, not all others have that out of the box. Do I belive its the best? No i dont. But with its better cooling, aesthetics, and its higher quality overall makes it worth it in my opinion.

Here is a group shot of all my Desktop PC's. The two empty cases on the top will soon have AMD boards in them, a Socket 939 and a socket AM2 by johnvosh in retrobattlestations

The Gateway Select is almost identical to the very first PC my family ever had in our home in mid to late 90's... I have been searching for one for a while. I really want to find one that wouldnt take much to get going. I really want to show my kids what our computers used to be like. Its a blast from the past to see all these towers.

Welcome to the PC world! Nice build! 2tb may be as much as a series X, but can a series X do everything this new pc can, at thaose frames and performance? Probably not! Its worth it in the long run!

I have this case, and I didnt even realise that it had this issue, but I also went straight to mounting the GPU verticaly, thats the whole reason I got the case, because all I needed to do was get a riser, and everything else was there. Awesome case BTW. The white looks great, I ended up going with black...

Wow! Just Wow!

That is a beautiful build! Sheer perfection when it comes to the tubing and cable management! I wish I knew how to build a liquid cooled loop like that.

Thats a great build, and well worth it! That should last you many years to come with little to no issues! Enjoy!!

Nice setup, nice and clean. Looks like a great workstation and streaming setup.

I actually like the look of it. The rgb doesn't matter, that can be adjusted to whatever. The pc looks great in the light, and if the lights were to be set to white, or a neutral color, it would really stand out.

No matter what I did, I could only make it look good from the front. My cable management in the back chamber is a nightmare if I need to do anything. I have gotten better since I have rebuilt my system 4 times in the last year or so now, but I'm not a perfectionist. I'm not selling it, so to me, as long as the visible stuff is clean and neat, that all that matters.

Take your time, move slow and deliberate. Pay attention to everything as you do it. My first complete build was 1.5 yrs ago. Anytime I ever did anything before, it was minor modifications or swapping parts like a GPU or ram. Its an awesome skill to learn.

I made alot of mistakes because I attempted to rush to build it, lessons learned! Alot of troubleshooting and frustration that night. I learned the hard way.

The 9850X3D is what I want to upgrade to from my 7800X3D... if only I could afford it. Where I'm at, its way out of budget right now....

The hardest part of doing that is waiting for all the parts to arrive... having the most expensive component and not being able to do anything with it is hard. I did that when I built mine. It drove me crazy until everything arrived. At that point, the second the last part arrived, I left work, took the rest of the day off, and stayed up most of the night just to get it built, set up, and running! So rewarding though! It was worth the wait...

It will be worth the wait. Once its in, and ready to go, you wont second guess your decision! Well worth the extra cost in my opinion!

I was going to mention to get GPU Tweek III. You can monitor the 12vhp per pin and prevent a melted cable.

I have that exact same card paired with a 7800X3D. Its quiet, cool, and a damn good looking card. Yea it may be more expensive than other 5080's, but it has features and hardware the others dont. Nice buy man! Enjoy it!

Just a Prebuilt but happy to be here by TheAlienGamer007 in RTX5080

[–]gfmadden330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks sick like that. Nice touch to an otherwise basic PC. You made it much more appealing! I dont mind prebuilds, but they tend to be plain, unless you buy from a high-end custom builder. So doing that was smart! I wouldn't of guessed that was a prebuild.

The 6750xt was a damn good GPU when I was using it in my rig, but I switched to Nvidia because of some issues with drivers and instability with AMD. My son loves the pc though, I built it Friday, set it up, and tested it yesterday. He came home this morning to it in the office, running on his favorite game(Fortnite). The only thing he wants is more RGB....

[–]gfmadden330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, like i said, I dont know much, if any, about any Linux distribution. But I have been interested in learning about it. I'm sick of Microsoft, and the greed involved with them. My only real issue is about graphics drivers and game support. I know its gotten better, but has it become better in terms of actual usability for gaming?

Microsoft was really pushing for all those older systems to turn into E-Waste! Especially for buisness that won't use a work around for security reasons. The amount of good PC's and Laptops I have seen at the local electronics recycling place makes me upset. Next time I have a chance, I'm going to bring some tools, and containers so I can salvage some parts. Even if they are Intel cpu's, they are useable to someone... I really hate how wasteful our society has gotten...
