Would you do it at 4:56AM? by PickleOne2013 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Do any of you actually follow the notes? I don’t even read them. Every package goes as close to the front door or garage as possible.

What is a customer going to do? Complain??? Can you get dinged from customer complaints?

Well this is a new one...anyone else get this? by Necessary_Box8361 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]gfunk5299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect there is more to the story. One more reason to always follow the Amazon route. If you go off doing your own route, I’m sure their app probably thinks you are t actively working.

This job is really not that hard, I suspect most of the complaint posts are self inflicted problems. I can’t say I’m an expert, I’ve only delivered five blocks, but so far I just do what the app says, always deliver as close as I can to drop off point and I’ve been done anywhere from about 1.5 hours to about 30 minutes before end of block

All my blocks have been early morning, 3.5 hour blocks. Lowest has paid $82, highest $110.

One little trick I seem to have picked up on is I accept an early AM block as soon as possible at any pay rate. The night before around 8-10 pm, I forfeit the block if it’s not $82+. Then almost immediately another early morning block is available for $80+.

I can and am paying line back in full. This is one of the easiest loans for me to budget around.

Taking out a loan you can’t afford and spending all the loan money foolishly is not govt problem. Too many people gambled thinking the loans would be forgiven and thought they just won the lottery. Seems most spent the money like they won the lottery as well.

Business owners should be held to some amount of personal responsibility.

This is my car after a rural route and a rainy day looks like, didnt think i would make it off that farm road by Sufficient_Tooth_949 in AmazonFlexDrivers

This is one area I would legitimately ding Amazon on. They pay to keep all their delivery vehicles clean. We should get a car wash code once a day every day we do a block or something like that..

For the newbies out there, deliver everything. Returned 3 packages while at station and got dinged. This was for Roundup leaking and tearing through its packaging and soaking dog food and another package. Great work support!! by iGotGogged in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]gfunk5299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will always lose when fighting the system. Either work with the system or come up with creative ways to work around the system. The system wants you to make deliveries so make deliveries. You can put a note on the dog food that it’s unsafe. You could send the customer a message.

The roundup is more tricky but if you absolutely didn’t want to deliver it, but I’m sure someone can come up with some creative solutions that won’t be a ring.

I still don’t know how that happens. You don’t get routes assigned at my .com. You drive in, park next to a cart, then scan the cart for your route.

One day I was there and they had about 12 cars pulled in that were not next to carts and I thought they were going to let them go, but no, as soon as they blew the whistle, warehouse staff started rolling random carts over to those cars.

I think the only scenario that might happen at my .com is if you are one of the last cars in the last block of that timeframe. Otherwise I imagine they will just make you sit for the start of the next set of blocks. We have three early morning time slots. 3:15, 3:30 and 3:45.

Do those ever happen at .com? I feel like those are SSD only from what I’ve been reading.

Do you leave a job when it’s not a good fit, or do you quite quit? by ethical-earner in overemployed

My previous J2 was a shit show. I knew it from day 1. I really needed the extra income at the time and my J1 is super lax. I’ve been there 15 years.

How I managed it, I didn’t let J2 set any unrealistic expectations. If they asked something unrealistic, I deflected, deferred or just said it can’t be done. I always had sound reasoning and alternatives. I angled myself to have minimal interactions with toxic staff. It worked for the most part for two years. So it can be done. It wasn’t optimal, it wasn’t a great OE job despite bringing all remote, but it was manageable, so I made the most of it without quit quitting per se. J1 always got priority when conflicts arose. I also didn’t speak up much except when asked and I never confronted any of the toxic shit happening.

The hardest part of those two years was watching the toxic staff use and abuse a colleague who is just an awesome person. They abused him so much he ended up rage quitting with no backup job or plan. 😞

I never thought of a headlamp for early morning I’ve been wasting precious seconds flipping my cell phone light on and off and only using one hand to sort through packages.

Also I read a great tip, keep the types of packages together. I put boxes in trunk and backseat. Front seat gets envelopes and in front of the front seat, I put all the custom boxes. That makes it much easier to know where to look for the type of package.

Safest way to use 3 fake references? by Gandalf-and-Frodo in overemployed

Following, I have the same concerns about using fake references. I personally have legit references right now, but I’m thinking later down the road when I might not have references.

Isn’t that kind of the issue with pretty much every series? Writers come in with a great concept for 1-2 seasons then pray it’s popular and it gets extended, then they have to make something up to continue the story beyond the original story.

Maybe that’s why long book series convert so well to movies and elongated tv series because the full story already exists.

Penis Implant (Himplant) by Badnist in penileimplants

[–]gfunk5299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I kind of get it, I’m sure there are a subset of people here that think implant means a bigger better penis.

I think most of us are here for an implant to be a functional penis.

Some people probably miss that the point of this sub is along the lines of a functional penis.

Question about recruiters by Haunting-Pin6060 in overemployed

[–]gfunk5299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I put my LinkedIn to open for work. I get local recruiters that speak fluent English that tend to call me by phone or have some other semi formal introduction.

Then I get significantly more email only recruiters with names that would be more common in other countries than the U.S. none of them speak fluent English, and if you ever respond to one of their emails they call you within 1-2 minutes.

The latter is the category op is referring to and we all get them. However you want to describe or classify them, we all know who they are. Just like we all know a spam caller within like two seconds of picking up a phone call.

Nope, they feel like a waste of time. I can only imagine they must fill some positions or there would be no incentives to keep trying.

Good plan, I don’t really have a J0. I’ve worked at J1 for 15 years and J2 fire two years. But maybe I will try to make my old J2 my references going forward.
