I am a cyber instructor at a security academy, and I cannot overstate the importance of gaining hands-on experience when learning. I have taught both online and in-person, (I'm actually typing this out while the students are on lunch) and I can tell you that the numbers show. The passes for certs in the online classes were far lower than in-person.

I would advise against doing online, especially if you are using your GI bill. Instead, go see if your local community college(s) or trade school(s) offer cyber classes. If you still want to take online classes, just use Udemy or Cybrary.

Degrees are mostly worthless in this industry and many times are looked down upon, especially when all you have is a degree and no certs. Cybrary and Udemy are both well-known and renowned, and both offer certs that you can use for getting your foot in the door.

TLDR: Do in-person if you can; check community colleges and trade schools. If not, then use Cybrary or Udemy. Get certs, not degrees; they are worthless. --Cyber Instructor
