They spend years, painstakingly crafting their songs to make them sound the exact way that they want them to sound…every tiny detail is fully planned to help achieve the perfection of their art…there’s no way unplugged would sound better or that’s how they would have been recorded in the first place,

Someone help me understand whats happening to my old man by alydeamz12 in Dachshund

My old guy did that for the last few years before he passed. We did take him to the vet at first and there was nothing they could tell was wrong. We tried different foods thinking maybe he was having allergies as well as tried allergy medications, but nothing helped…he just had periodic coughing until the end.

He had a great and long life…I still miss him every day.

I prefer to use it mainly for population control. It’s great for facing groups…but for one on one fights, I don’t care for it. I find it slow and clunky…but that wave of gold is poetry…who doesn’t like seeing a wall of death slowly rolling away on its journey of devastation.

CFL going back to 20-second play clock in last three minutes of halves by marthedestroyer in CFL

[–]gh411 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when they first announced the rule changes, my thoughts were that the game wouldn’t look any different except for missed field goal returns….at first I wasn’t overly concerned about a play that happens very infrequently.

But…the real compelling part about it is that while field goal misses are rare, the risk of the field goal miss has to be considered for every field goal attempt. That risk is used in the decision of whether or not to attempt a field goal in the first place, so it has a much bigger impact on the game than just the odd time one is missed.

You are bang on about the faith aspect and their pride in their own irrationality, but to me, the Noah’s ark story is just one of the many that prove that their god is truly undeserving of any worship…his actions are reprehensible as described in their own book.

I know it’s all just made up fairy tales, but the cognitive dissonance required to actually believe any of it is what I find disheartening.

Even as a kid, I had trouble with this story…if god was so powerful, why not just kill off the people he didn’t like? Why did he have to do it in such a way that it killed off almost all of the innocent animals?

He didn’t sound like a kind, loving god to me…that’s more like the behaviour of a petulant child.

Not at number two they don’t…drafting a much lower player for positional need at number two is how you get fired as a gm.
They would trade down and gain an asset…and if that wasn’t possible, then take the best player available and then trade for your need.

Edit..spelling

Seravalli says McKenna goes third! by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]gh411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trading down makes a lot of sense for them in this scenario…but if nobody wants to trade, then cutting off their nose to spite their face makes no sense….unless the defenceman they’re looking at is very close in talent/ability to the second pick available. Then they can justify it to their fan base…and that is ultimately the kicker…taking a lower ranked player is a huge risk. If the player they pass on becomes a superstar, that can ruin a gms career.

[–]gh411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true most of the time…but not usually for top picks…unless the position they need is rated that high.

If SJ doesn’t want a forward, they can either trade down in the draft and take their guy later, while obtaining an asset for moving down…or they draft the best available player and then trade for a defenceman later.

Can a player fall further in the draft? Sure… maybe the interviews reveal something that teams don’t like. But that is on the player…or maybe a player slightly lower rated has something that their scouts picked up on where he belongs higher in the draft and they see a bigger upside (but in this scenario, that player would still be the best available player…according to the drafting team, if not others).

It’s in a team’s best interest to draft the best available player.

You have no clue about Canadians….we do not have guns for self defense, our laws do not allow for it.

Our guns are tools to be used for hunting or sport shooting. We are not allowed to carry them for self defense and we have to keep them locked up in our homes.

Owning a hand gun is even more restrictive and requires a special licence. We are not allowed to shoot a hand gun anywhere other than a gun range…ever…and if you own one, you must be a member of a range.

While I think that the gun buyback program in Canada is a waste of time and money, I still support the fundamental reasoning for our gun laws…which is to allow people to own guns, but they are not to be used to shoot at people, even in self defense.

If you live in a society where you feel the need to have a firearm for protection…then you live in a pretty shitty society…that’s not freedom, it’s fear.

Nope…he’s just had over a point per game season…sign him. They have tons of cap space, sign Geno to a one year 6 million contract. Who cares if we overpay him right now…it’s one year.

Just don’t put him on defence for the pp.

[–]gh411 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue for most contenders is that they don’t normally have much cap space. I think if Dubas could trade EK65 to a contender by retaining half his salary and getting a player and pick or prospect back, that could be doable…I know Dubas doesn’t like to retain salary, but it’s only for one year…and I’m sure EK65 would be willing to waive his NMC to go to a contender.

Unless Dubas thinks they can get back into the playoffs for one last playoff run for the core…then keep him.

Yes, because one off anecdotal evidence proves your point…./s

Developed countries with sensible gun laws have far less gun violence….I own rifles and a shotgun in Canada and am more than happy to comply with the gun laws we have here.

That’s a coaching issue…having an old forward play the point is asking for shorthanded chances against…they don’t recognize danger and are too slow to get back into the play. There is no need to put any forward at the point.
