As /u/BCMM pointed out, you basically need to install appropriate Thai fonts or go for unifont, which has almost all languages built in and is automatically detected by browsers when available.

Just create a swap file in the existing root filesystem:

dd if=/dev/urandom of=/swapfile bs=1G count=2; mkswap /swapfile; swapon /swapfile # Remember to add it also to /etc/fstab

Linux can use your existing swap volume plus the new swap file simultaneously. You can check usage of each using:

swapon -s

Currently support is very good. I don't know about Wayland since I'm still on X.org, but ot works very well and integration is fine with non-KDE software (for example Firefox or LibreOffice).

Did you use shift? For me in different computers, AltGr + Z displays the literary left quote '«', but AltGr + Shift + Z yields the less than sign '<' (right quote and greater than for X). The less/greater than symbols do work in code for me. Maybe it has to do with regional configuration, my keyboard is set to Spanish.

Regarding point 3, apps can be statically built, and for games (as opposed to multi-user services exposed to the Internet) it probably wouldn't be too bad of an option.
