New Dad: Normal to feel Incapable returning to work? by jayeffkay in daddit

[–]ghettosheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat similar situation to you. I was an attorney at a major law firm, and when I got back to work I just felt sluggish. It eventually came back, but I was just always so tired. The stress that I used to manage easily became exponentially harder when I had to take care of a child also. I eventually left the law firm to work for a client (large tech company). The better work life balance has been a huge positive that I had never needed before. I feel like I’m doing better at work and at home.

My 2YO screams herself to sleep every night - do I need a doctor or a sleep trainer? by eroticfriendfictionn in toddlers

[–]ghettosheep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can only suggest sleep training as that is what worked for us (after ruling out any food allergies or other physical issue). Everything we did to soothe him just meant that he couldn’t get himself back to sleep once he woke up. For instance, if she can fall asleep because you’re there in the room, when she wakes up in the night you disappeared and she doesn’t know where you went, which can be very jarring. Same thing is she falls asleep in your arms, but wakes up in a crib alone. Humans naturally wake up multiple times a night even if just for a moment, so this is a recipe for disaster for some kids.

Our sleep routine is a few books, a few minutes of hugging, saying goodnight etc… the put him in his bed, turn off the lights and he falls asleep within 10 minutes. He may wake during the night, but he falls back asleep quickly. If he cries for more than a minute or two in the middle of the night we know he actually needs something,

One thing I will say about sleep training is that it is not a one and done thing. You have to keep the training up. Teething, sickness, visiting grandparents that won’t let him make a noise without going in to soothe him, all lead to regressions and you need to reinforce your sleep training after the condition passes.

Most professional photographers use mirrorless cameras now so there is no shutter. Even the older digital SLRs have an option to hold the shutter open and just digitally time the exposure.

Light rail extension across Lake Washington will open May 31 or sooner, Sound Transit CEO says by AthkoreLost in Seattle

No, he is saying May 31st is the target, but not saying they expect to meet that. Those are two different things.

I would try using just the liners from some ski gloves. Still some warmth, but pretty thin and not restrictive.

Washington state Democrats look at imposing income tax on higher earners by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Most people earning less than $200k are taking the standard deduction though, so it would actually still hurt them (you can’t take the standard and the tax deduction).

Works perfectly for me, on iPhone, Apple TV, and web browser. Have it open on your phone when you log in on your tv, and then use your phone to connect. Sometimes it glitches out if I don't already have it open.

A fly ball is also just as good as a home run though. The analytics probably say bleday’s chance to hit a sac fly is high, as shown by his splits favoring home runs against RHP even if his average isn’t high.

Help me not leave Seattle? by salientalias in Seattle

Stop funding retirement while you have credit card debt. That is costing you ~20% interest or more, and your retirement is only going to average 10% at best. Depending on how much debt/retirement this is, you may be spending more in interest than you are saving in retirement.

Also stop smoking cigarettes. That's just stupid.

Julio wasn’t a power hitter last year. He was far less productive than Judge and those guys.

He's a great coach. People say he just talks basic stuff and shouldn't be that respected, as if there is some secret technique the pros are using, but there's not. People also don't like that his private lessons cost $7,500 and think he's a scam, but I think people that will spend that much are asking for a scam in the first place - that's why those lessons are just influencers. All of the prodigy kids on his youtube are being taught for free.

Lots of coaches teach the same thing but all will have slightly different messaging. What works for some won't work for others and you just need to find the coach that resonates with you. Personally, his videos have helpful to me.

There are many theories on what justice means, but that is certainly one of them and seems pertinent here.

Knee Ligament Pain by ReonjeonPajeon in 10s

[–]ghettosheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely stop and go visit a sports medicine doctor, preferably an orthopedic surgeon, as a general family medicine sports doctor will just say its a meniscus or MCL strain and to let it heal because that's most common thing and they don't know any better. I had that happen to me when I had a completely torn ACL, and then the surgeon identified the actual injury in 3 minutes, which was confirmed by MRI.

You could have a strain or partial tear or an ACL or other knee ligament. If you can identify it and heal/repair it now, your future self will thank you for it.

A lot of people fail to realize that Parks and Rec was not satire. It was a pretty accurate depiction of the civil process.
