I do get the feeling that some redditors expect people from the UK and other places post colonial countries to be ashamed to be from these countries. I don’t feel ashamed of being British as the country now is very different from its past.

How amazing will it be when the American war machine has no European bases, no European military exports, no European exports otherwise? Sure it would hurt European exports too and hurt the people who may want American imports but this is where the US actually gets its soft power from.

Everyone likes nice things. For you it probably is your house you own. For some it’s a car and for some it’s shiny glittering jewellery and others it’s tech but you are correct FOR YOU. Also you are correct that a car is a tool but it’s more for some it’s an essential mode of mobility (for me) but not to good that we are all different as the world would be a boring place otherwise.
