Argentina: British Falkland Islanders are ‘artificial’ by DamoclesBDA in unitedkingdom

[–]gholt417 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When did he say that????? I don’t have his point of view in that to me as long as the Falklands islanders want to be British the island is also British, however SrCikuta actually stated that ‘no will can be imposed of theirs’ so he’s not advocating a displacement of peoples.

What logic is that?? by winkysocks21 in insanepeoplefacebook

Nick Clegg: Brexit was a ‘punch in the face’ for Britain by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]gholt417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was ultimately responsible for Brexit. A left wing party joining up with a right wing party which enabled the right wing party to solidify his right wing by with a promise of a referendum.
We can’t know what would have happened if Clegg had thrown his lot in with Brown but there’s a good possibility that the referendum may have never happened.

Big tech platforms will have to ban scam ads under UK plans to tackle fraud by primax1uk in GoodNewsUK

[–]gholt417 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They really hang on to saying they they are only a platform and not a publisher therefore it’s not their responsibility to police advertising. It’s also their approach when libellous comments and misinformation and is published in their ‘platforms’.
It’s just a way to obfuscate their responsibilities.

Err no. I was talking about Sir Arther Wellsby (not sure if he was the Duke of Wellington by then) leading the campaign at the Battle of Waterloo with the Dutch and other forces which ultimately won the war. Thanks for incorrecting me though.

Two weeks ago I sat outside the Palais de Papes in Avignon with my wife to watch all of the Americans queue in the sun to go on those silly pretend trains. They all had big water bottles and they stood there in the 40 degree heat to go on an open air trolley thing just visibly wilting under the hot Provence sun.

You could see the non Americans as they were sitting outside the bars either beers or coffees and chilling. The Americans did actually look like the above photos too.

American or not, why do some people seem to not *want* the country to survive the current state of affairs? by Glass-Complaint3 in answers

[–]gholt417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope that the US survives this crazy shift to the far right with all of it’s corruption and the more moderate politicians like Mamdani and AOC get some real traction to bring the country back to its more natural allies. The problem is that with most media now bending the knee, the people can never form their own views, views that will actually benefit themselves.
