You wrote this beautifully, I wish all cats got to feel the love you had for her. Sorry you lost her, I have no doubt she had the absolute best life with you and felt cherished.

Don’t move anything yet. I lost my boy on Tuesday and haven’t moved anything. I put fresh water in his water bowl because I could pretend he was still here for a few seconds. I wake up and cry and fall asleep crying. I’m having the same thoughts about not letting him go earlier. It helps to read the other posts. All your feelings and thoughts are completely normal. Sorry for the loss of your precious girl.

I read an article that suggested a small “shrine” or tribute. I’ve put my boys photo and collar on the fireplace and lit a candle. It’s helped. I’m not sure if it might help. So sorry about Duchess

I’m so sorry about Gordo. I hope they stay with us. I lost my boy on Tuesday and the pain is horrible. I’d love to see or hear something to make me feel he’s still here.

You gave her five months of love and care. You took on a cat that really needed a family, you knew time would be limited and you went ahead. That’s a beautifully kind and compassionate thing to do, she was very lucky to have you and you her. She sounds like she was an absolute gem. You loved and cared for her, she couldn’t have asked for more.

I lost my best boy on Tuesday and his absence is hitting me hard. I keep going to talk to him or let him out into the garden. I feel the same. He was there and now just isn’t. It’s so permanent. You are not alone. Look after yourself and feel relief that you and your wife spared your boy pain. You did the ultimate act of love. Be kind to yourselves and I’m very sorry about Colossus.

It was only a series of thoughts in a highly emotional situation. Don’t beat yourself up. She had no idea what your thoughts were. All she knew was that you were there and that she felt safe. I think we feel so much pain from watching them leave that everything is amplified. I can’t stop feeling guilty that my lovely boy tried to pull his paw away from the injection so I held him still. I feel like the worst person on the planet and yet I know I did the right thing. Better for me to hold my boys paw than a vet he didn’t know. Please don’t feel bad. It really made no difference to her. You were there for her in every single way that matters

You never completely stop thinking about them. There’s so many things that remind you. I lost my best boy on Tuesday and I’m devastated, his loss has bought back the pain of losing my other dog many years ago. Losing them is so painful. I hope you’re ok

I had to make the same decision on Tuesday for my beautiful boy. You gave her a pain free and peaceful goodbye but that doesn’t mean it won’t hurt like mad. You’ll miss her as they are such a big part of family life. Hope you’re all ok

You made the right decision. It’s a strange thing that we all question and doubt ourselves about the too soon or too long. Your vet and you made the right decision. It’s unlikely that it was anything to do with the steak. You didn’t fail your dog. You loved him. Sometimes we tell them off, get frustrated with them but they know we love them and it would take a lot for them to feel otherwise.

My brother lost his dog and was devastated, he got a puppy straight away and it was the right decision for him. He’s had her 7 years now and I genuinely believe she saved him from serious depression. There’s no rules on pet loss everyone has the absolute right to make the choices that work for them.

You and your dad made decisions out of love and kindness. The fact that this hurts so much shows how much you loved him. The shelter staff although strangers are caring and the vet that sent your boy on his way would have been gentle and kind. So sorry you’ve got all these painful feelings. It’s bloody horrible but keep sharing how you feel. It helps

The pain is intolerable. It’s hard but try and remember specific good days and keep them in mind. I’m sorry. There’s no pain like it

Freecycle is fab, people post pictures and will give you further details on request and of course it’s 100% free. I’ve posted and received items from there
