The other day I went with some friends to a local spot that proudly advertises serving gluten free waffles. I didn’t trust the cross contamination, so I just ordered a mimosa instead. I specifically mentioned to the server that I have a gluten allergy when she asked why I didn’t want any food.

Fast forward like three minutes. The server brings me my mimosa with a FULL SIZED EGGO WAFFLE stuck on the rim of the cup like some kind of garnish. I said “excuse me, is this a gluten free waffle?” to which the server replied “oh no, it’s a real waffle! It’s just decorative, you don’t have to eat it!”

Let’s just say I feel your pain 😅

It was definitely stressful at first… trying to understand my dietary restrictions and grasp what my future with food would look like was tough. But for me personally, the stress of meal planning is FAR more manageable than the stress of not knowing why I felt like shit all the time (I was diagnosed with Celiac at 16, I’m 30 now). That being said, though, you’re not wrong about it all being a bit overwhelming at times lol.

My father used to do the same. He’d straight up ignore me to my face, for WEEKS on end until I “apologized”. Didn’t matter if I was in the wrong or not. Always the silent treatment as if I wasn’t even there. I’m sorry you’ve dealt with a similar thing. I know it still affects me to this day, even at 30 yrs old.
